I can't help but wonder if Blizz has discussed this internally or not. The problem is, then you're running a free-for-all in standings, instead of encouraging folks to learn to work together, and rewarding you for doing so.

PvE does just that. It requires you to work as a team, and if someone sucks, you all pay for it. I can only assume this thought process is behind the "team" style ratings of the Arena.
