Extended downtime for some servers this Tuesday morning

Tuesday morning maintenance has been announced, and most of us can breathe easy -- we're only getting a one hour downtime, from 5am PST to 6am PST. However, there are 72 servers that will be getting a larger amount of downtime, from 5am PST to 11am PST, though there's no word on why. Check after the break to see if your server's going down for a bit. The list of the servers scheduled for a longer maintenance are as follows:

those look like some of the older...aka launch servers. I know Whisperwind was open at or around launch, so maybe they're doing some upgrades to prepare for the Wrath crunch (same deal we got in the months leading up to BC)

Possibly... but some of those servers are Oceanic and aren't that old... Dath and Caelestrasz (about 18 and 9 months old respectively) for example. Of course they might be based off the same physical hardware as launch servers... so... er... we're both right.... maybe.

Yay for Caelestrasz... last night we/I got booted at around 7pm my time and couldn't get back on all night. Whilst it would be nice if this extended maintaince fixed what ever happened, [whinge mode] I have this horrible sinking feeling that Blizzard will start this down time at it's usual mid raid time. That was quite mean of Blizzard to start our down time at 5am Server time... once. [/whinge mode]
However if others also had the same problem last night that might explain the extended maintainance coming up again tonight.

It seems like a lot of BGs will be empty. It's not whole battlegroups this time, seems to be just random realms. For example, Emerald Dream and Dark Iron up, but not Sargeras.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the reason these realms were taken offline had nothing to do with any software or hardware at blizzard's end... but was to allow time for the NSP to make some necessary equipment changes. Anybody who notices an appreciably reduced amount of latency should be thankful :)
