On the PTR before ZA came out, you could infact tame the bears. I personally had one, and it was a cute little bet but with no special abilities. I was thrilled when ZA came out live, I went in there with no pet expecting to tame the bear again........ but was unable to. Never heard of it being tamable since the PTR.
