WoW on Zazoox stations
Soley saw something strange at the airport in Denver: a console with PC games on it, including none other than World of Warcraft. Apparently there was a kiosk with a bunch of different games installed on it, and for a small fee, you could jump in and play any number of games, from Valve's FPSes (including Portal!) to our own big MMORPG.The company doing this is called Zazoox -- they have a site that shows off all of their different consoles and offers them (for a price and a service charge) to vendors who can then put them up in public places. World of Warcraft isn't actually on their games list yet, so apparently it's just being tested in Denver and other places. Apparently, the price is 25 cents a minute, but as some of the commenters to Soley's post say, if you're entering your WoW password on what is basically a public computer and something goes wrong, it could cost you a lot more than that.
Of course, overseas in Asia, this kind of thing is common -- the vast majority of WoW players there play in public cafes and Internet houses, and in fact the pricing scheme of the game itself there is per hour, not per month like it is here. But for some reason, this kind of ubiquitous public gaming has never taken off in the West -- maybe Zazoox's consoles will get people playing out in public.

Twenty five cents PER MINUTE?
Yikes.
Laptop + WiFi. Most airports have either free wifi or will sell you wifi for less than $10 for a full-day pass.

If you travel a lot, sure. At those rates, it would take 53.3 hours of Zazooks play -- jeez, that name sucks -- to equal an $800 WoW-capable laptop. Personally, I wouldn't bother, between the unknown security and lack of addons. I tried using the AH without my addons yesterday and it was painfully slow just doing price-checks.

I'm sorry. I mispelled "Zazoox" in my post. It still sucks no matter how it's spelled though.

What about keyloggers?
that would be fun XD

Damn, that is quite expansive.
1 hour= 15 dollars, rougly the same paid for a whole month!
As milktub says, is better a laptop with wifi net rather than that machine!
Ouch.

Not sure how safe they are but I have used them. I made sure to change my password once I got back from Denver. Also they do not seem to be very dilligent on patching them once an update has come out. I tried one several days after a patch, and it had yet to be updated. I called there support number, and heard back from them about a week later. Don't expect much when using these stations.

So, at that price, I'm down nearly a buck just letting the game load?

I did the math too. That is frightfully expensive. On Saturday I spent 4 hours in Kara. That would have cost $60.
Ummm, no thanks. I'll stick to the $14/month and play at home.

Hmmm... I could see the appeal in checking you auctions and burning some cool downs if you're on a trip or something. Honestly that takes like 5 minutes. But the aspect of a public system is somewhat concerning with all the attacks on our accounts and whatnot.

Expensive with unknown security risks? Where do I sign up?

WoW accounts are worth so much now that it would almost be worth it for chinese gold sellers to deploy the stations as the ultimate password-stealers and have you pay to do it!
