The Art of War(craft): DotA-style Battleground in WotLK?

I am a great DotA fan, as well as an acitve WoW player. I love both games very much and would be overjoyed to see these games merge in a BG. However I just dont understand how they can keep the DotA style game play with heroes that start out at a different range of gear.

In response to someone elses comment, what if this
DotA based BG was sort of like a chess event in Karazhan? It would have much potential if you allow the players pick a certain character and fight with him. Now I do understand that this would sort of take out the fun of a BattleGround since your character is not the one that is actually doing the combat. But it would still make for an interesting mode of play. Perhaps it could take the place of a sort of event that happens once a month lasting a weekend. By doing this place you may receive honor and reputation with a faction and redeem certain tokens for awards such as armor, pets and mounts.

Any other ideas?
