Allakhazam gets a refresh
- User-editable pages
- Tagging
- Profiles, with 3D model viewer and upgrade searching
Not to mention a re-skin which makes it look much more up-to-date. That's not all – they're currently running a contest, wherein every contribution to their wiki, forum, or comments, for the entire month of June, has a chance to win one of the following:
- One of 72 60-day game cards
- One of three Wii Galaxy bundles
- Grand prize: a gamer-friendly laptop
So go forth, and make Allakhazam a more complete site. Overall, I like the redesign; it makes Allakhazam feel much more relevant, and helps answer the quest of what's going to differentiate it from sister sites Wowhead and Thottbot. I'll still probably go to Wowhead most of the time, but that's just me.

imo, the best part about allakhazam has always been the WoWReader plugin that uploads your toon. it lets me research my quests while i'm at work.
the new upgrader is great as it gives you more info than the armory.
overall, i think the improvements are great.

I've always prefered Allakhazam over wowhead and thottbot. When boot up my PC for a little WOW, I launch IE and pull up allakazam and THEN launch WOW so a quick alt-tab gets me to a quick search. It threw me for a bit of a loop the ther day when I saw this change. Still getting used to the format, but so far me likey!

Wowhead is much better, and doesn't constantly pester you to get "premium service".

According to a message on the Wowhead front page the other day, the revamped Allakhazam is now actually powered by Wowhead.

wowiki has all the info, no point trying to compete this late in the game.

So far I've only tried to use content that required premium service one time. I have my trade skill and talent skill pages bookmarked, and other than that I search the occasional quest line or look for more detail about a particular item that I was ogling in the Armory.
The place works for me. WOWhead has never really worked out for my tastes, but if it's cool for you then by all means, have at it. I also prefer the toilet paper to hang away from the wall, I squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom and not the middle, prefer Coke over Pepsi, PC's over MAC, Outlook over Lotus Notes, and girls instead of guys.
But hey, you know.... whatever makes you happy. Or as the saying goes, "Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Happy Hunting

Count me as one of the few that always preferred Allakhazam over the other big two. Thottbot and Wowhead always seemed so... *drab* to me. Unfortunately, this "refresh" is just as flavorless, at least to me. It's not that any of the sites are lacking in content, but I like a layout, color scheme, and overall feel that grabs me.
