Daegul's take on it is much more inline with what blizz has shown as an approach / design pattern. Having various badge types isn't casual friendly, having to worry about conversion rates between badge types is just extra math, etc. If they were to introduce badge types I'm sure it would be much more like battleground marks which is a model they have experience with (obviously).
They basically already did tiers with badge vendors already in bc. The first stuff was all on par with kz stuff, the second wave was on par with t5, and the last was on par with t6. Same badge type, just staggered over time in their release and involved larger investments of said badge type (and an unlocking event.).
