Forum Post of the Day: Invitation requirements
We all know that PuGging instances can be a pain, especially finding a tank. Gelin, a tank onThe Forgotten Coast, says that she checks the armory before she invites. If you don't match her standards for armor, weapons, and spell stats, she will not invite you to a group. As a tank She feels empowered since tanks are rare, and dps is much easier to find.
If the original post had been more eloquent, people may have viewed it as insightful, it makes sense to be properly geared before asking for a group. As it stands, the responses have been primarily negative, along the lines that this is a bad attitude to have in the game. This thread is legendary because of Eyonix's response:
You have left over talent points.
You should not be so judgmental.
I wonder what it's like to be knocked off your high horse by the most aloof of the CM's. It must hurt, a wee bit. I've learned to generally check someone's gear out at the beginning of an instance, due to a poor experience with a hunter with empty armor slots. What do you look for in your PuG?
Edit: Original post text after the break.
If you are wearing any green items I don't invite.
If your weapon(s) arnt epic, I won't invite.
If you have less then 1000 spell damage, I won't invite.
If you have less then 1300+ healing, I won't invite.
If you misspell anything or use numbers 4 words when messaging me, I won't invite.
Why? Because you are a dime a dozen, thanks to pretty much everyone having arena and battleground epics (except tanks) its pretty much reasonable for me to expect this.

Dave said: "I absolutely disagree with anyone who thinks you can't tell something about someone from their armory profile."
My holy priest has two sets of gear: one she uses for PVP (lots of extra stamina, very little decent healing stats) and one for PVE healing in raids and instances (very, very good healing stats). If you checked the armoury to see what his healing gear was like, it's probable you'd see his PVP gear and not realise how good his PVE gear was.
The armoury is a nice tool, but using it as a basis for judging whether someone can effectively play their character is never a good idea.

I tank and I do inspect some people some of the time. Other than that, I strictly PUG my leveling warrior and have a lot of fun. I've never kicked a person for spec, gear, class, etc and I never will. I'll take the time to hold their hand a bit and teach them how cc works if they don't know and explain fights and, in general, just explain things if they look like they don't know. Now, people who don't listen are different and will be kicked. I'd rather take the time and teach someone some of the stuff I've learned than just dismiss them.
Why do I have this approach? Simply so the next time I want to PUG there is one more competent player out there and one less "n00b" ... call me selfish if you want. And I've never seen an instance or situation where a little bit of thought could not overcome an obstacle.

I have had a number of negative experiences with people like this. And that's only since I came back to WoW on April 30th after taking a break since the first week of November.
In fact, just 3 days ago I was rejected for a Zul'Aman run because I'm wearing some blues. Nevermind the pieces of gear and weapons I've accumulated since I came back. Someone I had friended and had been inviting me to Karazhan on my weeks I didn't go with the guild finally looked at my Armory and decided my numbers were too low for Zul'Aman.
I was told my RAP was too low, my DPS was too low, and the fact that I wore blues excluded me from this run. Note that my 3 blues are the Claok of the Coming Night, Lightwarden's Band, and Abacus of Violent Odds. I'd rather spend my badges on bigger upgrades at first and get the smaller ones as time goes on. So I kept an eye on the group as it was forming because players have made me a bit spiteful as of late. I saw which hunter they picked up (because they were still in LFG at the time) and looked her up on Warcrafter.net --- A good place to compare yourself to others.
She passed their inspection process because she was wearing all epics. However, upon checking her warcrafter page, I saw that my numbers were quite a bit higher than hers were. Now here's the kicker. She saw me sitting in Shattrath the following day and asked me for gear advice. I had never spoken to her before she approached me about this. Go figure. People would prefer someone in all epics than someone who knows what they're doing, it seems. I don't understand this thought process.
I don't hold this situation against her, but I took note of the people in the raid and they will forever be people I won't bother with. Even the one who was a WoW friend was removed for this. I can't stand gear nazis. It's one thing to expect a certain level of gear, as well as skill when building a party for any given instance, but to solely base it on someone wearing things with only purple outlines seems ignorant.
