Koraa hints at the future of Shaman. Kind of. Maybe.
While it isn't especially earth shattering, class designer Koraa popped into the official Shaman forums (gasp!) to say something simple, yet intriguing. Eronar of Argent Dawn posted a thread asking the question, "Are you staying a Shaman in WOTK?" and Koraa's simple response was, "I think you'll stay." It could be a completely simple statement with no deeper meaning at all, but it isn't like the WoW community to let something like that go without coming up with some kind of conspiracy theory.Last we knew, Shaman spells and abilities hadn't yet been implemented into the Wrath alpha. Could this be a sign that the devs are planning to move into the testing phase for Shaman soon? That's probably something to be excited about, if the other classes are any indicator. While certainly not everything in Alpha will make Live, things are looking pretty exciting so far, even for the classes and specs that have felt left behind in the past. Hopefully Shaman will feel the same. It's definitely something to look forward to seeing, at the very least.

i hope they will give us, shamans a reason to remain what we are... i would realy love to give a one more try at PVE elemental shaman ( resto now... only one reasonable spec, becouse i love instances ) ...and if they dont. well... theres a troll hunter stabled :)

Um, Ele shamans are awsome? +3hit/crit and +100 dmg to your party? Most fun i've ever had was me and 2 other mages with a Sp and a Ele Shaman against VR. Man that was a blast.

Graduate to the 25 mans and suddenly it doesn't matter what spec you are, all dps will cut their best friends throat to have a shaman in their group.
Nick S Jun 7th 2008 4:04PM
truth. i cut mine just the other day.
it was an acceptable loss.

I remember seeing somewhere, i think in the Enh tree, an an ability with an image of a firely lasso. Basically what it does is attacks the enemy, and also pulls you toward them (like charge, etc).
On the PvP side, since they have improved druid's CC (made roots work indoors), i see no reason they wouldn't give shaman's CC as well.
So thats two things shamans have been clammoring for checked off the list, mobility and CC. I think shamans will get some pretty sweet additions/changes. Just in time for me to level my shaman to 70 =D.

:-O
blizz is putting in a mechanic that moves other players? (and not just fear)
that would be really surprising to me.
my2cents Jun 7th 2008 6:54PM
Nick. They have said in fact that they are adding knockback abilities and other abilities that move players in WotLK. But to Charlie, I think that move you're talking about was "lightning lash" that appeared on forums with a screenshot for a while. But that was before FaF Alpha started and when it did start, lightning lash was nowhere to be found so I'm guessing it was a fake. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see something like that implemented though.

Shmans will be pve gods in wotlk.
Dks use two handers to tank and with "respectable" dps....
add windfury.... this the great reason ferals will die out as OTs
Zeplar Jun 7th 2008 1:20PM
1. Lasso is the opposite of charge, it pulled them toward you, not you to them (it's posted on this site somewhere)
2. Shamans will be extremely good until patch 3.1.

I'll go on record saying that hunters and shammy will be the most ignored in Wraith (again). I hope not, i'd love for shammys to get some respect.
PeeWee Jun 7th 2008 1:57PM
Well, Blizzard are handing out candy all around to keep people playing. Why should the shamans have it any different?
Argent Jun 7th 2008 2:29PM
oh, i dunno. holy paladins seem to be so redundant atm, it makes me wonder just what blizz could possibly do to make them viable again.
if you play a pve shaman (of any flavor) atm and don't find yourself in high demand, you might give credence to the notion that as player you might not be all that good.
Xoshe Jun 7th 2008 2:05PM
You know, I never really understand all the complaining. I absolutely love my Shaman, and have from level 1 all the way to level 70. It's good even by itself, but in a party it really shines.

51 Point Shammy Talent = Cry of the Totem Monkey
I have never encountered a thread on this blog that involved shammies that wasn't loaded with QQing
No wonder you guys suck...it's hard to see your computer screen through all the tears
Do i get to cry when my warrior gets 3 shotted by some elemental shammy? Not hardly
qoa Jun 7th 2008 2:42PM
Do you cry when shamans vent about class issues? Yes.
Elmo Jun 7th 2008 2:59PM
tbh I would be more surprised if he said:
"No, I think you'll all reroll."
not that much special tbh
kabshiel Jun 7th 2008 3:17PM
I think that statement means that Blizzard is going to disable character creation on all players that currently have a shaman on their account.
Eternalpayn Jun 7th 2008 3:32PM
You win.
Anenome Jun 7th 2008 3:35PM
Yep, Blizz its up as news on the Blizz site now, all shaman-players will have character creation disabled and all other characters deleted except your shaman ;P
Charlie Jun 7th 2008 3:48PM
I do think shamans QQ the most out of any classes, even more than mages. And thats saying something
(Largeman 70 mage Burning Blade & Ryuzaki, 37 Shaman).
