Poll: Are you looking forward to WoTLK more than you looked forward to Burning Crusade?
So recently, Tobold was saying that excitement around Wrath of the Lich King is visibly much less than the excitement that led up to the release of Burning Crusade. People are tired out by the 2 year wait, WoW isn't innovating, WoW isn't adding the content fast enough: there's just so many reasons that the Wrath of the Lich King is being greeted with ennui instead of excitement. My first thought upon reading that: Wait, people aren't excited over WoTLK?
For me, I have to say that I am far more excited for WoTLK than I was for the Burning Crusade. Yes, BC had the prospect of finally being able to play a male elf who actually looked graceful and elf-like. You know, without hands that looked like seal flippers. It also had a journey to Outland, where we would able to meet and interact with many of the heroes and locales of Warcraft II, as well as Illidan and his lackeys, Kael and Vashj. So yes, there were a few reasons to get excited.
However, I'm practically drooling over Wrath of the Lich King. I'll get to play a Death Knight, which is the class I wanted to play when I first heard about World of Warcraft. We'll see the continuation of some of my favorite storylines, such as the mystery of the Titans and the Earthen, The Missing Diplomat, and the saga of Tirion Fordring. We'll see the Forsaken fighting and possibly poisoning the alliance again, the Warsong clan being belligerent again, and fight against wave after wave of Scourge, maybe even back by the side of the Argent Dawn. Inscription will give us a wider amount of customization over our characters and the way they fight, with the barber shop and dance studio letting us control their look and feel.
Seriously, at this point, if you added player housing and an outfit system, WoTLK would be close to my perfect expansion. Then just pump out content and let me play an Ethereal at some point, and I could die happy.
Honestly, if there is a drop off in Wrath of the Lich King enthusiasm, it will be mostly fixed at the end of this month, when the Worldwide Invitational goes down. There will be playable WoTLK and developer panels, and with any luck, we'll get a massive infusion of fresh new information just like with the last Blizzcon and we'll really be ready to go. All we really need is a little bit of information, and it will come out how excited people are about this.
But anyway, I'm curious, am I off here? I know I am looking forward to WoTLK far more than I ever did Burning Crusade, but I am alone in this? Those of you who were around before BC, are you with me?

I meant original game, not first expansion in my first sentence. Oopsies.

The thing is that the feel of WotL seems a lot more like I was used to from the Warcraft universe. Also, Northrend has always seemed more interesting for me then Outland. Also, seeing my favorite paladin "Turalyon" not implented in Outland was a let down for me. Instead of the screenshots of Outland that looked like: "Wow, that's interesting" most of the screenshots from Nothrend look breathtaking. And...I'm loving the lore. I know some people don't think of it much, but I loved the direction quests took in Outland, a lot more scripted events and stuff that played out and I see that WotL will take it another step. And there is one more thing:
10 man raid instances. For a guild as small as mine 10 man raids up untill the end will really help building our core team. We have always been pretty good as raiding as a guild, but the lure of 25 man instances always ended up in all our geared people leaving without us really being in the wrong. Now we can finally move on to new instances without suddenly having to find 30 more good raiders.

I'm much more excited for WoTLK than I was for BC. Not that I wasn't excited for BC, but WoTLK has so much more to offer of the things I personally like, an awesome new class, and more of the kinds of environments that I love and crave more of in the game.
Some aspects of BC were cool, but I didn't really care much for most of the environments and monsters. A lot of the gear isn't particularly attractive, and the various conflicts and story linesjust aren't as interesting to me as those in vanilla and WoTLK.
From the looks of it, it's really going to be a lot of fun. :)

When TBC came out, the new content was great. I had a blast leveling again in HP and Zangar especially.
But after the first few levels, I realized my profession was broken, my class was broken, and when I got to 70 I found there was nothing to do without a group and no way to find a tank unless (as I had to do) you levelled one yourself.
They fixed my profession after a long time of basically not having one. They did very little fixing of my class then broke it again. They gave us more to do at 70 with dailies but a lot more needs to be done to make this game fun at 70 and the lack of tanks is still a huge problem.
Class balance is still a huge problem esp since the devs seem to have their favorite classes that stay OP no matter what while other classes stay nerfed and broken for years.
I see no reason to hope for improvement to these major problems in WOTLK and I think the addition of the DK class will probably disrupt class balance even more.
IAnd I think you'll find the DK players don't want to tank anymore than most of the warriors do.

Well in a off beat way looking forward to LK, for the 10 man option, for I will hopefully be more able to run with my core buds more often, along with the DK option. Have a cousin wants me to play with him on a PVP server.. well don't feel like leveling a whole new toon.. so Free 55! Makes things a bit easier for me and my playing time that I am allotted.

Not looking forward AT ALL. Seriously concidering not buying the update and quiting WoW. Concidering the time and the work I put in my characters, I just hate the fact that I'll be QUESTING again as a holy priest. Vendoring the epics I worked so hard for. I have 3 lvl 70's at the moment, a healer, a tank and a dps. Just the thought of having to go throught the ultra-boring questing to level process again. Kill 2349 clefthooves, get 435 skins with a droprate of 2%, from beasts in a lake with an aggro radius of a mile and that like to spawn in your neck when you just survived the 3rd add. I like to kill bosses in big groups, not that stupid solo quest crap.
And then, starting again in greens and blues... I'm one of the casual players (I don't have that much time), I haven't seen BT or sunwell, just like I've never seen bwl or aq40(which feels like as a bigger loss). I feel like I'm running to keep up with a ferrari, because of a very small group of gamers that finish fast and get all attention.
No, I'm not waiting for it at all.. especialy since I read the insanely painful nerfs on priests: CoH a 6 sec cooldown, Vamp touch just 2% mana generation instead of 5%, It's not like those aren't the most important reasons why priests are wanted in raids. My god, we just recovered from the joke they pulled on us with TBC.
I blame it on the lightwell naggers, they made them do this ;)
Anyway, I don't know... New content, ok.. killing old content (or reusing it :S), not ok.. Just skip the damn leveling.. I don't want to be 80!! The amount of abilities is enough now too.. They have too much trouble balancing them as it is.. Leveling is also tedious and the most annoying part of the game.. quests should just be about rep, rewards and attunement..

Im definatly more exited about WotLK then I am about BC (mainly cuz BC was basically the original WoW for me cuz thats what got me playing it).
Its mostly cuz im just...bored. Ive had a 70 for a while nw. Hes all geared up and ive run kara and ZA like 100000 times. I cant find anyone for PuG's and I cant find any raiding guilds for anything other than those two raids. I mena sure, the fury of the sunwell patch was grate and all, but, again, doing the same thing over and over is just...boring.
Also, im not too worried about replacing my epics with blues and greens cuz, i forget were, but i read that Blizz isnt going to make u replace ur epics to quickly. U should be able to keep ur epics till, well they didn't say, but im guessing anywhere from 75-77 before u gotta replace most of them. The new gear in the starting areas are mostly for ppl who havent geard there characters and are still running around in blues and greens.
Also, cuz of pink haired gnome DK's...nuf said.
