70 Orc Hunter running for Connecticut legislature
More politicians are coming out of the WoW closet. Jeanne Stevens is a WoW player -- with a 70 Orc Hunter, a 58 Troll Shaman, and a 53 Blood Elf Rogue -- and a Republican running for the Connecticut state legislature. And she freely admits it in a new interview with Wandering Goblin, as covered by our sister site, Massively. Her hunter is balanced between marksman and survival, her shaman specs elemental (close to my heart!), and her rogue climbs the assassination talent tree. Will she be able to master the beasts in her political race? (Okay, you go ahead and insert your own shaman or rogue wordplay here.) Maybe she'll hold some in-game speeches or rallies. She could hold forth on top of Orgrimmar's bank, or maybe lead a raid to Stormwind as a metaphor. Is it surprising that a Republican chooses Horde? I think you could make a case for either faction going with either political party. Personally, I love to see that she's middle-aged and a woman, which defies Blizzard's assumptions about the majority of WoW gamers. She also chooses pirates over ninjas. I'm not sure there's a political comment there, but I'm sure someone will show me the light.
[Thanks to Wandering Goblin via Massively.]

Am I the only person here that remembers the statistics released around this time last year that declared middle-aged women to be gaining a majority in the population of MMO gamers?
Seems like no-one has referenced it yet...
Apparently the amount of sandwiches being made has dropped at an inverse proportion.

Middle aged women gaining a majority? As in close to 50% of all people who play MMOs are middle aged women?
Come on now, how can that possibly be true. It sounds ridiculous. Of course middle aged women play, but close to 50%? Link please.

Ok, so I was mistaken when I said That women were gaining a majority in MMos, it was actually just Online Games in General;
And it wasn't last year, it was 2 years ago...

"One cluster of data in particular stands out and hits you in the face: While the ratio of men to women in the overall gaming universe is 2 to 1, an astounding 64% of online gamers are women."

Dear mother...you had to bring out the troll bait, didn't you?
Female gamer and a republican?
Jeeze, why don't you just mention RP and basic manners while you're at it, and bring ALL the jerks out?

If you want to talk about YOUR politics? Do it somewhere else.

'Maybe she'll hold some in-game speeches or rallies'
I hope she gets banned then if she does. I don't play a game to get political jargon yelled at me.

I seriously doubt she'd canvass in-game. Not only would that be rude and classless it would turn off so many people it would be counter-effective.
Other than that, lord knows I am no rebubbakin, but as far as political philosophy, New England Republicans are more liberal or "progressive" than most Alabama Democrats. Or Ohio Democrats for that matter.
Region has much to do with it, too.

oh jeez, politics and wow. Considering that a conversation in politics usually includes some 15 year old who's not old enough to vote, but plays COD so he thinks he knows about war and Iraq, I think that it should violate the ToS the same way discussing race/religion does.
Let's keep the real life mess out of Wow.
