WoW Moviewatch: The Hunt trailer
The Hunt trailer is brilliant in so many ways, yet fails in others. The editing is superb, but the voice acting misses the mark so much that it's almost comical. He still has time to perfect the video, though, and he'll have a long line of people waiting to see it on premiere night!

Looks amazing. Beyond anything I've seen before. But you are right about the voice acting... some of it is pretty bad.

What are you all talking about? With every movie its always "the voices suck" with you people. May I ask just what you are using for a standard? The voices in this trailer were as good as anything that's been put out to date by anyone in the community.
Also, Fives McGee has had that voice in several previous movies. It's his voice. Deal with it.

Lol, I couldn't help but bust out laughing at parts of this. Big fancy NElf coming to save the day, Holy Diver playing in the background, etc.
However, in all seriousness, the editing and creation of this trailer does show some true skill. I'm impressed.

The gnome's voice is a bit.... off from what 99% of people will expect.
ThorinII Jun 9th 2008 3:02PM
/agree
The gnome's voice is a bit too "human" for what the game itself leads us to expect.
William Jun 9th 2008 12:46PM
yeah... voice acting seems to be the weak link. Video looks great though!

Voice acting isnt so bad as it ruins the movie, the female human is the only bad voice i heard, but you get used to it.
Khandy Jun 9th 2008 3:25PM
Ouch. And here I thought I was pretty decent. I guess its easy to stand back and say everything sucks when you haven't picked up a mic and tried it yourself. I think ppl who complained can sit on it. Honestly. I knew this would happen the second David asked for my help, since A list actors are expected to voice in machinima nowadays. Why am I even surprised by any of this.

OMG what great editing! Honestly the voice acting was pretty damn good. I've heard way WORSE acting on other machinimas, so I don't see how it's that bad that it was 'comical'. (maybe the gnome voice was kinda what I wasn't expected, but hey I'll keep and open mind)

Eh, voice acting was fine to me. I'm a bit confused as to what the Tauren have to do with it though, there's no clear connection.
Regardless, it looks amazing. I'll be watching for the full release for sure :)

I wouldn't expect a gnome to sound like that, but the editing is really all i was paying attention to. This is going to be pretty epic i would say.

Hmm. Impressive.
The voice acting is pretty decent, although it would certainly be possible to improve on it from what I've heard there - but it's impossible to judge acting from a short snippet like that. To be honest, I'm most worried about the script (some of the dialogue clunked a bit, and it's quite long-winded) and editing for plot rather than effect - that was a loooong trailer, and I don't have a particularly clear idea of the movie's story from it.
Having said that, I'd agree, as a community-level project it looks pretty darned cool, and I'll certainly be watching it. If the story's up to the level of the (awesome) editing and effects we're in for a treat.

I don't mind the voice acting one bit! Though the gnome's made me laugh quite hard when I heard it at first. Sorry. XD

THIS SHOULD BE A MOVIE IMHO IT WAS GREAT POST IT WHEN IT COMES OUT
Drewbie Jun 10th 2008 10:20AM
I don't know that it's the voice acting being bad as the sound levels and mic quality being fairly poor. With machinima being as young as it is and people taking help where they can get it with voice acting, this is to be expected and has to be forgiven. Still, the actors, especially the female at the start, could have put a bit more into it to make it more convincing. They came off more like they were reading lines than acting a part.
Oh, and as far as the gnome voice, recall that Liuv in "The Grind" has a super deep voice and Gnorlin's is pretty normal as well. Just cause Blizzard made them cartoons doesn't mean they have to be.
Sanaje Jun 11th 2008 12:20PM
What Drewbie said, I loved the gnome voice. Personally would've used something normal as well instead of the high pitched squeeking most people would expect. Since frankly, in a story like this, I couldn't take a gnomish character serious if he/she were.
As for the trailer itself, I'm positively impressed. Editting looks masterfull, and the voidwalker scene had me going 'wow'. That said, I won't make any comments on the voice acting untill I've actually seen the movie. Not that I find it bad, mind, because for something home-made (I asume) its great as is.
As for a last tip, might've been an idea to have included the tauren into the trailer in the form of text as well, because the viewer barely has a clue what they're doing there right now, or what their part is in the story.
