Kara Pugging Blues gets a pitch from Curt Schilling
If you're a regular listener of the WoW Insider Show -- and you should be -- or you happened to listen to episode 40 of the show, you may recall that our own John Patricelli, also known as the Big Bear Butt Blogger, introduced us to a cool little ditty by his friend Dax called the Kara Pugging Blues. We played it during the mid-show music break. If you haven't heard it yet, you can listen to it during the Episode 40 podcast, or download it from the link on the sidebar of the Big Bear Butt site.
Anyway, it seems like we're not the only ones who liked it. On a recent episode of The Instance podcast, Curt Schilling, founder of gaming company 38 Studios was on. If you haven't heard of Curt's gaming company, you may know him from his other job as a Major League Baseball pitcher. Anyway, he was telling the hosts about this awesome song about Pugging Kara based on a Johnny Cash song that he heard on a podcast he listens to.
As John points out, it's pretty unlikely there was another podcast in the last few weeks that featured a song based on a Johnny Cash song about pugging Karazhan. So hey, let me offer a shout-out to Dax for entertaining Curt Schilling. Curt himself didn't mention the name of the podcast he heard the song on, but I figure there's a pretty good chance it was ours. So, hey, shout out to Curt Schilling too, since he probably does listen. If he doesn't, and he heard it on another podcast, he should listen anyway, and so should you. Seriously. The WoW Insider Show is awesome. Go listen. And go listen to the Kara Pugging Blues while you're at it too.

the song i listened to is good, but i like nyhm's "can't pug kz" better when it comes to a song about pugging karazhan.

i listen to both the wow insider show and the instance podcast every week. they are both awesome, and curt being part of the podcast over there each week is pretty crazy. there are more famous people playing WoW than you might think... :)

Love the Instance (and Insider show). Curt has, to my surprise, molded in nicely over there, and yes, that song is redonkuously funny.

curt listens to many podcasts, and has already elluded in previous 'instances' that he also listens to the 1up legendary thread p'cast too, which had some excellent wotlk info in it that neither the instance or wow insider touched upon.
it's odd as a brit, as we have no freaking idea who curt is, other than someone relatively famous over there. Whilst i like the fact he seems down to earth, he's a gamer, and has a game company, i can't help but feel he's only on the instance because of his fame, rather than for anything new he's bringing to the table. i mean, the instance podcast was kick ass before he joined. :D

Easy tiger, some of us Brits know exactly who Curt is! :-)
One good reason to have in on there is because his company is creating an MMORPG and he is intimately involved in its genesis. As a result he does bring something new to the table, that being a more outside-WoW view on MMORPG's in general, and an appreciation of the structure and process of their development that highlights aspects that as a pure gamer I for one would not have thought of. And he seems like an all-round good guy as well!

Curt's also been an MMO Gamer for quite some time, so he definitely has the credibility from the fan side as well. He played Everquest back when it was the biggest thing out there.

heh. don't get me wrong. I'm not bad mouthing the guy; he seems to be genuinely down to earth, and interested in the same things that drove me to listen to the instance in the first place, and have kept me going back week after week. Just, i don't necessarily think he brings anything new to the table on the instance podcast. e.g. he had to leave the show half way through last week. was the second half better, or worse without him there. discuss.
or rather, take vendor trash, as another wow podcast, which is just one person ranting (and a very good rant that i agree with 99% of the time), week after week. That format works well. Would it work as well if i joined him? i doubt it.

What's that sound I hear??? Oh it's Johnny Cash rolling over in his grave! :D
Cute little song. Beats anything by L70ETC by far!
