"How I made 100,000 gold"
A player by the name of Kunzite recently submitted to us that he had released his gold-making guide, subtitled "How I Made 100,000 Gold." With a title like that, I had to check it out, and it has some very interesting tips in it. It is extremely long, which makes it all the more surprising that it's free. A lot of the tips are along the lines of playing the auction house, but there are also some helpful introductions to concepts like opportunity cost (a vital thing to wrap your head around in WoW), and detailed lists of what crafts you can turn a profit in (if only by disenchanting them), and so on.
I know I'll be coming back to this site – I haven't read it all yet, but it is a very nice resource, and who couldn't use a little more gold? I've already implemented one of his suggestions and found it to be quite lucrative: farming for Fel Armaments and Marks of Sargeras from warlocks at Legion Hold. My previous go-to gold-making strategy (fishing in Nagrand) was getting me 200-300g an hour typically; Legion Hold would be more like 400g if I sold everything, and I need the Aldor rep anyway (so I'm selling the Armaments and turning in the Marks). The best part about Legion Hold is that the mobs there are perma-spawned: there are always at least certain number alive at a time, so no matter how many people are farming there, you never have to wait for spawns.
Kunzite's guide, like Jame's killer leveling guides (Alliance, Horde), is astonishingly high-quality – and completely free! Go check it out if you have any interest in better ways to make gold. And to Kunzite, thank you for making this great resource available to the community.

Looks promising. I'll have to try out some of those tips.

the problem, if everyone knows about these tips, then no one will make money. As everyone will be doing the same thing.
Akido Jun 11th 2008 1:22PM
I suppose so, but there are always variables. Some people can't play all the time, some people won't know about the tips, some who do won't care. Some will only take part of the advice.
For example, I like to grind mobs - I probably won't play the AH, because I already know it bores me.
After a while, everyone will fall into their own personal play pattern, and it will balance out. Some will strike it rich, some won't. Capitalism at work, I suppose.

I wouldn't worry. The majority of WoWs populations isn't using/aware of this website.

Lol i click the link but it comes to a error. Anyway yeah if everyone does this it will not longer be as effective lowering the Gold earned! Making other ppl looking for different ways!
A cycle of never ending Gold Farming! OMGZ

Umm, the site is no longer working for me now, it says that the site is taking too long to respond, possibly from the amount of people going there from this post? =).

In other news the ass just fell out of the Fel Armament market...

Epic LOL

A lot of it is common sense (opportunity cost, e.g.) though the site got slashdotted before I could look at his guide to disenchanting/prospecting.

And so wowinsider.com gets to add another site to its kill count
Ed Jun 11th 2008 1:47PM
The question is, did it drop any good loot?

I've been doing that Fel Armament grind for awhile now. I own the AH on my server selling those. I keep the marks, turn those in for rep, then AH the Fel Armaments. A 4-5 hour grind yields me 1800+ gold a day. The grind sucks, but the gold is better. Good guide by the way!

The site is getting overwhelmed by hits. If you get an error loading the page, try again.

here is my favorite thing: have a fixed amount of gold you feel like you can spend on AH deals or other frivolities. reminds me of what kills most diets: never getting to eat food you like, then going nuts and eating two bags of chips and a tub of ice cream.
Daimon Jun 11th 2008 2:30PM
Why didn't he try to make $100,000 instead of 100,000g??
cough cough loser cough.
Either way is a win for Aldors, go to farm= gets arm = rep = ppl farming like nuts = AH prices go down = cheap rep.

I giggle when I think that people need a guide for how to get from A to B.
Guide for how to be damn good once you get to B makes sense. But since you really cannot go wrong in the journey, why does everyone need a guide?

Most of the crafting advice is useless. If you are swapping multiple green gems for arcane dust...please send me a tell and we can cut out the middle man. The gems sell for a lot more than the dust.
You are throwing away gold if you craft to DE the way this guide suggests, at least with a few items.
When was this guide even written? Vortex's have been around for badges for some time now, and the brilliant glass changes have made green gems profitable.
Anyway, the only really good advice was the aldor rep items, but few people have the necessary insanity required to sit and kill the same mobs for 6 hours, which is what you need to do to guarantee a good profit/hour.
Best way to make money? I bought my girl her epic flier. She has a toddler at home and no job. During the kid's nap and when he sleeps at night, she uses the fast flier to mine and fish. She sends me the ore, and cooks/sells the fish. Every morning I get my cut of her sales.
That's right, I have an employee. 150g a day for the rest of my life from someone who only plays to fish and pvp, all for an initial investment of 5k. Not to mention that any primals I need end up in my mailbox when i get home from work.
con-man Jun 11th 2008 2:23PM
When will wowinsider learn to put those links behind a cut? This would at least help a little.
Xin Jun 11th 2008 2:44PM
gold? why would i need gold at 70 when i already have my epic mount? you are right i don't
Zamboni Jun 12th 2008 5:32PM
Once you get past a certain point, enlarging the gold pile becomes a separate game by itself. Gold is just another way to keep score - I know I'm never going to spend any of it, but aiming for the gold cap gives some of us something to aim for. I know my non-raiding working schedule means I won't ever see Mt. Hyjal, but I do know that I have move gold in the bank than anyone else on the server.
