Changes to old Azeroth coming in the next expansion

So we've put together a gallery of just what will be different about the old world after the Wrath of the Lich King comes upon us. To be fair, some are set in stone (we know for sure that Naxxaramas is exiting stage left for a bigger part later), and some are little more than speculation (Uther played a huge part in Arthas' life, so his tomb seems like a good stage for an event at some point), but odds are that by the time we've all reached level 80, all of these places in Old Azeroth will look very different.

I was under the impression that you couldn't start a group while using a trial account. Won't this cause an issue? Or do you already have someone on the server ready to set up the raid? (Though I'm not sure if trial accounts can join raids either)

I have to exception to your statement. The expansion is NOT named after Arthas, it is named after Ner'zhul. I doubt anything of Arthas is left in the physical that was once the crowned prince of Lordaeron.
His soul itself was stolen when he took up Frostmourne and the last of his being was fused when he donned Ner'zhul's armor. What he is is just like the first death knights that Gul'dan created: a orc spirit in a human shell.

The fact remains that at the end of Frozen thrown they clearly said "We are one". Ner'zhul needs Arthas. Arthas may not have a soul but if you can recall far enough back to playing the campaign you will know he did pretty well without it.

Arthas was cool. Ner'zhul was some smelly orc. Thus, by the rule of cool, Arthas is the Lich King and Ner'zhul isn't important.

I blinked into Dalaran back when you could still do it. It was, sparse.

I did it just this past Saturday. All it currently is is an open field. There are the structures that the bubble only partially enveloped that you can go in and on.

Ner'zhul stole Arthas's soul, and Arthas whacked Ner'zhul, took it back, stole his armor, and sat down on a glacier to rest.

They're taking away the bubble? NOOOO!!
Not the bubble! Not the giant purple bubble!
Then how will we make jokes aout gigantic gay paladins!?
mizatt Jun 12th 2008 4:47PM
Zuh? How is Uther's Tomb going to change?
Procris Jun 12th 2008 5:43PM
Its not going to change, at this point its pure speculation.

Am I the only one that's noticed that in the Wrath of the Lich King maps, Ahn'Qiraj is just... not there?
Did they just slap Northrend on an old map, or what?
trillex Jun 12th 2008 4:58PM
That's not really soon enough. This expansion once a year and 4 patches inbetween really doesn't give the game enough life as it is.
Unagieater Jun 12th 2008 4:57PM
Um... Dalaran is in Alterac... Not Arathi highlands. (reading the gallery)

I wondering if Blizzard is going to have some large event happen to the cities like they did with Kruul for the opening of the Burning Crusade portals. Maybe there will be a disease that spreads through the cities. Something similar to what happened with the Corrupted Blood plaque (http://www.wowwiki.com/Corrupted_Blood).
Dios28 Jun 12th 2008 8:40PM
Just a guess but I think one big event will be King Varian Wrynn arriving in Stormwind Harbor with Broll and Valeera from Theramore.
Steve Jun 12th 2008 5:06PM
I think the picture of Theramore is actually Menethil harbor...
MechChef Jun 12th 2008 5:20PM
The leaked pictures I'm seeing from alpha have what appears to the initial/basic models of the new Dalaran. But the bubble is still out there. I'm anxious to see how it develops.

"And considering that Blizzard added not one but four different instances to CoT in the last expansion, Stratholme may not be the only Caverns of Time setting that we get --"
Old Hillsbrad, Black Morass and Hyjal. Did I miss something here?
mizatt Jun 12th 2008 5:46PM
Yeah... there were a ton of inaccuracies in this article :(
