Seven graphical WoW signature generators - and one for your car

Want to have a picture of your WoW toon (or, in my case, toons) on your blog, forum posts, or emails? There are plenty of tools out there to help you. They all work by tapping the Armory to find information about your character -- some better than others. They can only update as often as the Armory does, but some of them take even longer. Most have customization options which allow you to choose the background, colors, and stats your sig displays. They also usually include code for your sig (if you want it dynamically updated) in HTML and BBCode format.
After the jump, nine different ways to sign your character's profile.
- GuildLaunch: We covered their revamp recently. The image above comes from their site. Very clean look. Can upload your own avatar image. No registration required. Had my level and stats correct as of today.
- DKPSigs: Can customize the color of everything. No registration required. Can customize your avatar image. Must wait for your sig to be "queued" before it's generated. I wasn't too pleased with the picture of the Tauren it showed. He looked pretty doofy.
- CharacterPlanet: Requires registration. Custom avatars allowed. This one had a sharp looking border around the toon's picture.
- MyWoWCard: Had a lot of different layouts but they all looked crowded to me. No registration required, but to put your stats on your card you do need to register.
- Xchar: No registration reqiured. Couldn't find my toon! So disappointing because the designs look unique and cool.
- Mini Flash Armory: Very nice Flash-based, interactive sigs. No customization allowed. No registration.
- WarcraftRealms: Could choose your own fonts. By far the most customizable and unique looking sigs. No registration. No stats. Big drawback: my level 66 toon was shown as level 64 and belonging to an old guild.

The guildlaunch sig generator had my stats right at the time I made it, but updates were exceedingly slow. It was usually just better to recreate it than to wait for it to update on its own.

I second this - I make my sigs again after a new gear upgrade all the time. ^_^

Try Xchar again, make sure you're selecting the correct region.

I just tried XChar, it couldn't find any of my characters, and yes I was choosing the US region. Not sure what's up with that :(

Did you try to register there, then "claim" your character and finally create the Sig? (I tried it and it worked ^^)
We are working right now on the other issue (unregistered chars from other Regions), but this indeed does not work at the moment.
Yours,
Karsten from the Xchar Team

I was trying xchar too but my realm isn't even listed as an option. Eldre'Thalas (US)

Your server needs some census overviews ;-)
Download census and run it several times.

Ironically, I quit Squirrel Mob while I was still 64. Strange.
Eternalpayn Jun 12th 2008 8:17PM
My bad, I guess I did quit it while I was 65. I thought I dinged last night, but I am pretty far into 65. Haha. It seems to be as updated as my armory, which isn't very updated.

I ended up rolling our own for our guild forums, they're HTML based to cut down on the size.
Suppose I should post an example :P
http://tyrande.heroeslight.org/misc/images/boksig.png (the background fades to transparent, it just happens to be on a grey background). It's designed for use with our phpbb forums, so the whole right hand side is configurable using bbcode.

What does GuildLaunch do that Antiarc's Sig generator doesn't? (http://armory.mmo-champion.com/create_sig.php)

Possible the author missed this......
"Based on Antiarc's WoW Sig Image Generator"

Guild Launch is just using Antiarc's sig generator code. He's made it open source so anyone can host the creation page on their site, as part of his armory tools.

who reads stats on other people's sigs? /boggle

If you're spanish or you speak spanish, you can get one in your language at http://www.trastosdeguerra.com/entry/view/2008-06-03/firmas-de-personajes-para-foros

My problem is these are all too big. When you have 6+ characters you want to show your sig gets rather huge and everyone starts joking about just how far they had to scroll to get past your wall of character data.
Maybe after I cap off my last few 70s this summer I'll my own flash sig which just rotates through the characters.
Papadoc Jun 13th 2008 10:36AM
I tried most all of these and just haven't had any luck. Of the ones I could get to work, DKPsigs is the only one that seemed to update with any regularity but I just didn't like the look of it. Guildlaunch works but updates are so slow. Mini-flash armory can't find any of my alts. X-char doesn't even list my server (Mok'Nathal). *shrugs*

The Flash armory signature maker is just bad. Looks all fancy n shit, but it's much too buggy. None of my chars on realms with spaces in their names can be generated. This has been a "known issue" for months.
