Phat Loot Phriday: Crux of the Apocalypse

Name: Crux of the Apocalypse (Wowhead, Thottbot, Wowdb)
Type: Epic One-hand Dagger
Damage/Speed: 164-247/1.80 (114.2 DPS)
Abilities:
- +18 Agility, +15 Stamina, which makes this a nice weapon for either Hunters or Rogues. Hunters will probably say it's best for them, and Rogues will probably say they deserve it, but no matter who's getting this weapon, it's top of the line period. Just look where it drops from.
- Red socket (perfect for a Subtle or Bright Crimson Spinel), +4 attack power bonus
- Improves haste rating by 27 and attack power by 56. No matter how you look at it, this is a very, very nice dagger.
- Just in case you're not up on your Latin, crux means cross, though it's also picked up another meaning in English as central or critical point. Either way, whenever you're stabbing someone with a central symbol of the Apocalypse, they're going to feel it.
Getting Rid of It: You won't -- at least not until most of the way through Wrath of the Lich King. But when do you sell it, a vendor will give you 15g 52s 99c for it, or you can disenchant it into a Void Crystal.

114.2 dps don't make your hunter shoot any faster... if there's a rogue in the raid, i would never roll on this for my hunter.

How is this even remotely a hunter weapon? I generally hate the wars over who loot is best for, but I can't see any reason a hunter would need a melee weapon like this. Heck, my rogue CAN use the KJ bow too... but there's no way in hell I'd roll/bid on it against a hunter.

Dude, obviously a pally weapon

Let's not be silly here. While I would never take this dagger out of a rogue's hands, 18 agi, plus 20 agi from enchant, plus haste rating, plus 56 AP, makes this a PERFECT candidate for dual wielding on a hunter. I for one would never turn down 76 agility and 112 AP.

Anyone who even thinks that any Hunter should roll on this is stupid if they take it over the Shivs instead.
JohnC Jun 13th 2008 6:13PM
a hunter should roll on it, just not over a rogue, its a good dual wield weapon. don't get me wrong it probably is better for a rogue than a hunter so i say we get second choice, but its still a viable and valuable option
Ermac Jun 13th 2008 6:40PM
And it's not like a rogue will use it, except maybe in pvp...So everyones trash talk about "no hunter should roll on it" is moot.
Reinard Jun 13th 2008 6:47PM
That was a joke, right? 'Cause I lold.
Ermac Jun 13th 2008 6:53PM
At the pinnacle of the end-game, swords> anything else of the same level.... what are you going on about ?
Rogues will pull out these maybe once or twice in 2 weeks, hunters will use them all the time...if it really is an upgrade to them that is.
so your point is ?

You guys are aware that those daggers are terrible for hunters, right?
And VERY few rogues use daggers in real endgame.
2xShiv of Exsanguination is MUCH better for hunters. If any of you were actually good at your hunter, you'd know that the APen is much better than the haste, and you lose very little else.
Please learn to hunter.

This is not phat loot at all. I really hate how the Sunwell plateau weapons seem to be overflooded with daggers, a type of weapon that pretty much no class but hunter uses in a PvE environment. Even then, 2x Shiv of Exsanguination is far superior for hunters than this dagger, so who really should use this dagger?
The answer is nobody. PvE rogues who get all the way to Kil'Jaeden have already realized the superiority of swords for their DPS, so they have no use for this weapon. Fury Warriors and Enhancement Shaman both favor slower weapons, and this is much too fast, so they have no use for this weapon. And as mentioned above Hunters will prefer Shiv of Exsanguination.
This dagger is a joke. Every guild killing Kil'jaeden right now is praying that this dagger is NOT something that shows up in their loot window, because it just means they missed out on a chance to get some real loot that week.
Hybrys Jun 14th 2008 1:47AM
Maybe they're planning on adding joke loot that drops every time to EVERY end boss?
Shard of Azzinoth anyone?
Pucelle Jun 14th 2008 12:36PM
If your second weapon won't drop, this might not be a bad choice to fill the hole for a while.
Shinwei Jun 14th 2008 1:27PM
If your second weapon won't drop there is a plethora of options for hunters that are superior to this dagger.
Halberd of Desolation, Dagger of Bad Mojo, Shiv of Exsanguination, and Shivering Felspine are all top-notch hunter weapons. Not to mention Kalecgos even drops the Fang of Kalecgos, which is also superior for hunters than this dagger. There are FOUR really good items and one somewhat good weapons available to hunters already, so what's the point of adding a fifth? From the last boss in the game? It just doesn't make sense.
This weapon is a joke. Nobody wants "temporary" upgrades from the last boss in the game. Every guild out there who is killing Kil'jaeden is looking to get "best-in-game" items, and this dagger doesn't even rank among the top 5 for any class in the game.

Its funny to see everyone complain over what constitutes "Phat Loot" this is a BLOG ROLL to keep you informed on loot it dont have to be top of the line, and this is a blog to keep you busy when you cant play wow or are taking a break... as for who gets what loot, it's on anyone that can wield and benefit from the stats over their CURRENT weapon. people think this weapons sucks as opposed to "Wep X" but not all people have "Wep X" so maybe it would be an upgrade. hell if i ever spec'd Survival and i was looking for a 1h wep, i may just roll this cause it is available and probably better than any other 1h wep i have banked waiting to equip or will get in the near future from a raid...

This is a damn fine execute-time weapon for a fury warrior, and since NOBODY ELSE IN THE GAME wants this crap, might as well save it from becoming voids.
