Honestly, if you're going to get paid to write things no matter if you want to call it blogging or journalism (one of which I went to school for and have a degree) there's at least some set of professional standards that is more or less expected.

It demeans the efforts of all serious bloggers who are journalists when the desire to get a post on a page outweighs any significant research. If you're going to write about WoW, and get paid for it, it's actually mostly to be expected that you have a superior understanding of the game and DO obsessively read any and all information that's showing up anywhere about it. If this were your personal blogspot or your livejournal then nobody's expecting much of anything from you. If you're being paid by AOL and you're posting on a blog called WoW Insider (the key being Insider which represents an above-average knowledge of the game to say the least) then yes I absolutely expect most of the posters here to know more than me about everything they post.

The reason people are critical, is because often times the posters here don't necessarily know more than the fans reading the blogs since people who are busy reading a WoW blog every day... tend to be the ones more obsessive about the game and more into things behind it. I'm not expecting Elitist Jerks type commentary (although that would be fantastic to see) but at the same time I think something a cut above the Blizzard forums is expected to say the least.
