The Midsummer Fire Festival has begun!

You're likely familiar with some of the old content, such as the firepoles and stealing flames, but as the Schramm mentioned yesterday, there's a ton of new stuff, too: Ahune the Frost Lord, torch tossing, torch catching, a pocket firedancer, and some pretty fab Fire Festival clothing.
Get on out there and have some fun, and make sure to check back throughout the day. We'll have a lot of Fire Festival content of our own coming your way, right here on WoW Insider! Oh, and before you go questing today, stop by the firepole and dance with some friends. This year, it gives you a pretty nice boost to XP gains!

I haven't check other capitale cities but IF pole give you 10%xp gain up to 1h, and SW 10% rep gain. Nice for 70 characters^^

The ones in Netherstorm and Shadowmoon valley give both +10% XP.
I was quite shocked when I turned in the quest at the ember thingy, brougth back many funny memories. ^^

Catching torches is pretty hard.

As I was told, follow the shadows.

I gave up.
Not into dying while attempting mingames.

Follow the shadow. There is a little dot on the ground once you throw it that you should follow. The shadow tells you were the torch is in the air. Make sure your slightly in front of the dot because you have to "anticipate" the torch.
I turned off my UI to do this mission even though I could see the shadow with it on. Just makes focusing on a little speck easier.

I wondered what was going on, I logged in late last night to quickly upgrade my Violet Eye ring and got a weird fiery buff. I ended up getting addicted to the flame juggling quest.

This festival is all about the Free XP! Head to every town, and "Honor the Flame". Then head to every opposing faction town, and "Desecrate the Flame". At 57, this is worth a total of around 13k XP and 15 blossoms at every horde/ally town pairing.

after spending nearly a half hour trying to juggle fire, i decided that it wasn't worth the 10g they were offering...
I did manage to get the 4 consecutive catches, but couldn't get the hang of it enuf to get 10 catches for the daily... i'll stick to tossing and calling it good... there are plenty of bonfires to honor anyways...
not really sure what I hope to get from this festival... my bank space is pretty cramped these days as I start collecting a healing kit.
just following the shadow didn't cut it for me... maybe i'm just lacking the finite control necessary... err yah... i'll stick to the more conservative fare

I obtained the Shadowfrost enchanting recipe from Ahune on our second attempt. Pretty nice pvp chant.
Angry Joe Jun 21st 2008 11:10AM
The enchant is called Deathfrost.

Wish there was a way for non-70's to get that Scorchling pet... my Mage would love it - but he's only 20 right now...

The festival's a great way to make some money too. Honoring your own fires will net you 5 gold, and extinguishing any of the enemy ones is an exceptionally easy 11g. And they don't count toward your dailies to boot.
PvP results may vary.

Anyone have a list of the honor/desecrate flame locations? Thanks.
Dargonaut Jun 21st 2008 1:07PM
We killed the Frost Lord a few hours ago. Pretty confusing fight until you figure out what's going on.

For the Torch Catching, chase the shadow of the torch instead of trying to guess or follow in the air.
If you are a hunter or have a hunter friend, use aspect of cheetah/pack makes it easier.

I might be in the minority, but I'd kinda wished that some of the old quests had remained, in lieu of this "Burning Blossoms as Currency" jazz. At least there would have been reason and incentive to re-visit the dust-covered instance of yore with the "Light in Dark Places" quest...
