Roleplaying a quest can be fun, though to be fair I sometimes have pity for my character who does certain quests (like saving the draenei in Nagrand over and over again because he keeps getting into trouble - IC my character would have been tired of it after two times already.)
Also, if you are roleplaying a non-hero type (pig farmer, apothecary, tinker) it can be a bit odd to have your character go on killing sprees to reach something.
Still, it can keep things fun and varied, espescially if you're doing a quest on an alt or something for the second/third/... time.
