Absolutely put in cheap gems (5g) and the low end enchants. For example on your boots:1) Cat's Swiftness: +6 AGI - 8 prismatic shards & 8 primal air2) Dexterity : +12 AGI - 8 greater planer essence & 8 arcane dust3) Agility: +5 AGI - 2 greater nether essence#1 is what you'll probably really want and is a top end enchant. #2 is a somewhat more afordable option. #3 is cheap. Not having #1 is understandable. Not having #2 will irk some people and you can forget about the more advanced instances. Not having #3 is showing that you aren't even trying.People focus on the cost of the very top end enchants and gems. But for the cost of one top end enchant you can get all of your gear enchanted and gemmed up with the cheap stuff. Having all of your gear in cheap enhancements is better than having only one really good one. Obviously, if you want to do serious raiding, you won't stop with just cheap stuff. But it will get you started. Also, if you raid and you score an epic, take the time and money to put a really good enchant on it. Remember, 9 (in some cases 24) people helped you get that item. They'll want to see you take some pride in owning it.

+1, great post.Effort needs to match the content, or you are essentially expecting other people to put in extra effort to carry you. Solo levelling 1-10? No effort required. Gearing for Heroics? Effort required. Gearing for Kara? More effort required. It's pretty simple really.
