Season three: The reckoning
We have now experienced three full seasons of Arenas in World of Warcraft. The numbers are being crunched and we shall see the winners of end of season rewards shortly. Most of this season has been plagued, like others with dishonesty among some of the players. Blizzard took action a few weeks ago to combat win-trading and point selling with temporary account bans, personal rating requirements for match-ups, and penalties for queue dodging. It seems Blizzard is not quite done meeting out their punishment.
On an alt named Wtfkalgan, a player noted:
A team recently got reset to 1500 (questioning the judgment of the GM involved isn't the purpose of this thread). The email states, "Note: This also disqualifies the above player from any end of season rewards." Does this mean the player involved is completely ineligible for any end of season rewards, or just from the end of season rewards for the team that received the action?
Belfaire, a CM , clarified that this does exclude the character from receiving all end-of-season rewards. This may be an isolated incident, or it may be the beginning of another wide-spread crackdown on arena cheating. This may also include stripping honor from battleground afkers.
I can't wait to see how this plays out tomorrow and when rewards are handed out. I'm thinking it's going to be epic. Thanks for the tip, Feller.

retroactive punishments will always be worse than proactive preventative measures.

but, the tears of retroactive punishment are soooo sweet
Also, its better that blizz admits that they were wrong in allowing such things to happen and punish the wrongdoers instead of just give them all a bye to avoid admitting that they messed up

I've seen so many players afk all the time and later run around in full S1 with no apparent punishment, it's outright laughable.

That's kinda because Blizzard's focusing a bit too much into 5v5 arenas in the push to make WoW arenas an e-sport. Notice how every check and balance they made seems to really mess up the other areas? Like immortal resto druids in WSG for example?
Also, because of so much attention placed on 5v5, the other parts receive less of the much deserved attention as well.

Flower delivery eh?

Belfaire is a GM (game master), not a CM (community manager). The post from Wtfkalgan was on the Customer Service Forum.

Ooh, I've been win trading too...
Can someone report me so they promote...errrr....I mean "reset" me back to a 1500 rating...
Sinthar Jun 24th 2008 9:28AM
As far as im concerned anyone win trading or otherwise cheating should have ALL honor, arena points, tokens, items and Hk's stripped from them. And it would serve them right for being so lame to cheat.
Oh and if anyones so stupid to believe itsgoldsale is actually a flower vending site, then please contact me, i have some real estate to sell you, BARGAIN price too!!!

Gee, it's only taken 3 full seasons to address this problem. Band-aids can't fix broken bones and Blizzard can't fix the inherent flaws in the arena system. They will continue to tweak little things and hand out some rare (but publicized) punishments instead of fixing it. WoW is not for the hardcore PvPlayer, and it never will be.
