Breakfast Topic: How's Season 4 going for you?
The first day of Season 4 has come and gone, and with it, I'm sure a lot of players spent a lot of time recovering from the switchover and beginning the climb to Gladiator rank for the end of Season 4. Arena players rushed out to buy new Season 4 gear -- at least the stuff that didn't need a high rating -- while many battleground regulars probably went to get their hands on the Season 2 gear for Honor points. I'm sure a lot of teams started play today if only to try to push up their rating and get more gear earlier.
If you're a little overwhelmed by all the Season 4 hubbub whipping around, let WoW Insider get you squared a way a bit better. You can check out our Season 4 Information roundup, chock full of useful articles that will help you get the most out of this season, or you can check our Season 4 brutal gladiator gear roundup for information on all the new stuff you can spend your Arena and Honor points on.
If you plunged right into the thick of things, how did you do? Did you fight enough Arena battles to get a set of bracers, or are you waiting for the teams to settle into proper brackets before you dive in? Did you just stick with buying some season 2 gear or a new belt with some saved up Honor points? Or, did you just sell armor patches and gem cuts to everyone looking to kit out their new gear? Let us know how the new season's treating you!

I was making money hand over fist on jem cuts and enchants last night, it was awesome :D

I respecced Resto and am working on learning the "heal before you die" tactic for PvP.

If you value your sanity and are planning on BGing at all. Download the GRID mod and set it to auto-colo people out of range an obvious color (mine is black). Healing becomes a lot more fun.
Previous to this, I would tab target an enemy and heal their target. Talk about cumbersome

My current method has been to find a tank to follow around in BG's and chain heal him when he has ppl near him. (I'm a shaman). The only thing is that chain heal is like placing an oversized ginormous "Kill ME" sign above my head. So unless the ppl I'm healing watch to see who attacks me (almost no-one does) I die quickly and so does everyone else. That grid thing sounds kool tho, I'll try it out.

I also like Healbot Continued. I haven't tried GRID, HC also changes the color of the player when they're debuffed with something I can fix and gives a fairly accurate prediction of how much I'm under or overhealing a target when I start casting. In PvE, it also shows which friendlies have aggro, so it gives me time to switch to them. Plus, I just have to click on their box to heal them, and each mouse button + shift/alt/ctrl modifiers can be assigned to each key. I'm pretty much always at the top of BG healing meters, which admittedly isn't hard, and I'm rarely above 20% overheal outside of "must keep tank topped off" PvE encounters.

BitterCupOJoe, I used to have Healbot Continued for exactly the features you mentioned there (granted, on a non-Holy specced Pally, for occasional heals and frequent Cleanses). Then I switched to Pitbull unit frames and Clique for click-casting, and found that between those two I could do all I was using Healbot for with just the Party frames. No separate HC frame and more viewing space in my UI.
Not trying to say one approach is better than the other, of course, just trying to share a good thing with others.

Thanks all for the addons... I don't know how many of them I'll get to try, but I'll try as many as I have time for! Much appreciated. New healers like myself really need this kinda info. :D

Wellll, I got new gloves and got schilled on the enchanting mats (I was silly to not prepurchase, and too impatient to wait).
Tonight I'll get some new shoulders (S2) and I fully expect to get schilled again on my gems.
However, I'm approaching more than 1/2 epics (4 days played) so I'm happy.
Nati Jun 25th 2008 8:44AM
I'm boycotting season 4 and its rewards (even though I have some 10,000 points to spend across my characters), so it doesn't concern me personally.
Smurk Jun 25th 2008 8:53AM
S2 offhand and helm for me, HUGE upgrades, looking forward to more.
Lashay Jun 25th 2008 9:13AM
I got some S3 geared for cheap and picked up some S2 shoulders on my main, and I've made 8k gold since the servers went up yesterday!
Gentber Jun 25th 2008 9:30AM
Well it's only been up a couple of hours in the EU but when I get home from work it's S2 Shoulders, Chest and Helm for me - a nice upgrade for my recently-dinged BG-loving Orc Hunter =)
Theadrick Jun 25th 2008 9:37AM
I picked up 4 pieces of the S2 set to replace my S1. I'm not into the whole arena thing, so I don't really care about S4. I just need a few more marks from the hated WSG to get the legs, then I will have the complete set.
I already have most of the trinkets/accesories... so its time to save up for the new weapons/shield next.
Vager Jun 25th 2008 9:38AM
At 1735 on 2s atm. 16 Wins, 0 Loses heh. Had to stop becuase it took to long to find a match at that rating.
Kyron Jun 25th 2008 10:22AM
Nice. What was your previous rating before the S4 came out?
Vager Jun 25th 2008 10:29AM
2330 on 2s. Hopefully enough for the Gladiator stuff.

i would love to jump in and get my hands dirty, but my main has been caught in server transfer limbo since saturday. get a move on, blizzard.
BitterCupOJoe Jun 25th 2008 10:18AM
It's going fantastically for me. People are paying crazy, crazy amounts to gem and enchant their new gear, and I'm here to take their money. I hit 70 on Saturday, about bankrupted myself buying a regular mount and skills, and if the current trend continues, I'll be buying an epic flying mount by the end of this weekend.
Oh, PvP for myself? I'll get to that sometime next week.
Yunta Jun 25th 2008 10:02AM
I'm a relatively recent 70, so while I have mostly Vindicator/Guardian gear for those slots, I'm still wearing 4/5 of the blue rep pvp gear (and 1 quest green in my leg slot!). So... my partner and I got stomped by much, much better-geared teams last night. Frustrating, but hopefully they'll move up to a higher bracket soon, so then we can start winning, collect points, get better gear and beat them. =D

I was playing bgs last night with my horde main and we were terrible. I lost 10 eots matches in a row. Seems like we had a huge influx of awful arena players that wouldn't fight at a tower. Within seconds we were down 1-3 and then we usually lost our 4th tower or lost the middle. Can you arena guys please grab what you need and leave so horde has a fighting chance again?
