Analyst: Activision is a better investment than EA
We'll start this one off with the caveat that these days, you can find an analyst to tell you anything you want, so just in case you want to hear that Activision is apparently a "better investment" than Electronic Arts, Deutsche Bank analyst Jeetil Patel is your man. He says that Activision (the company that's merging with Vivendi/Blizzard, doncha know) is "way ahead" of its big competitor EA in terms of profitability. His comments are more of an attack against EA than a compliment for Activision, however -- he mentions Call of Duty and Guitar Hero as big franchises for Activision, and they are, but he doesn't say a word about the Blizzard merger at all. And on the EA side, he leaves Rock Band off the list completely (EA is distributing it, not publishing it), and makes no mention at all of Madden or any of EA's other big franchises). Plus, he's been down on EA for a long time.
In short, this isn't going to change anyone's mind. If you're a fan (or stockholder) of Activizzard, then great, there's a bright future in it for you. And if you're not, and you'd rather embrace EA, this guy is just biased enough that he's not going to change your mind. But we're all for competition anyway -- it can be good games time now?

I'm sure you know what madden is. But, whatever, it's the worst franchise I've played. Played it a lonnnng time ago in college. Then after awhile my friends and I realized nothing was changing and that actually they're rehashing things. Yet selling the game like it's brand new each time. Now it's 59.99. So, 59.99 for only different stats? No thanks. I'll just play my copy from 4 years ago if I want to play the game. But football is a friggin money machine, so it goes.

Many "The Sims" fans won't be getting "The Sims 3" and "Spore" because of the whole SecuROM bullshit with EA.

What do I care about guitar hero vs. rock band?
Here are the facts. The developers who made WOW have mostly left the company and are working in new studios on new projects. I look forward to what they create. WOW is left with a somewhat descent team but far from what it was.
Warhammer is coming out soon and is being devolved by the same developers who made DAoC. They are extremely innovative and good at what they do.
I am going to give warhammer a try because I trust their current development team a whole hell of a lot more than I trust Tom Chilton and company. When the devs who left blizzard come out with their own MMOs in a few years I will most certainly try them. But playing a Tom Chilton game is like going to the sequel of a great movie with a new writer, new director and new cast. Yes the concept was great at one time but now it sucks becasuse its the people behind the concept that make it work. When those people go what it was is gone.

Deutsch Bank, the people that financially backed SCO in their bogus money-grab FUD lawsuit against Linux for a total loss and being linked to MS setting up the funding.
Good call.
Take anything they say with a square mile of salt flats salt.
