Forum post of the day: You are prepared for a Death Knight
We still don't have a release date for Wrath of the Lich king, but I suspect we will in the very near future. From what I've seen any folks are chomping at the bit to get started on their Death Knights. Blizzard's been handing out tidbits of information on the class. Many players have been dreaming about the gender and race combinations they'll select for the Death Knight, or even how to play the class. Aside from that, what can we do to be ready for our first heroic class?
Rizelle of Gurubashi is already preparing herself for the arrival. In a thread entitled "I'm already playing my Death Knight," she described the actions she's taking:
- Farmed enough materials to powerlevel Engineering/First Aid/Cooking to 350, and farmed a few stacks of each precious ore (silver, gold, truesilver) to smelt for Mining levels (even though i'll probably have to do some back mining anyway).
- Farmed up quite a bit of rep items to turn in upon hitting Outland. So far i'm up to 300x Unidentified Plant Parts, 150 Arakkoa Feathers, 80 Firewing Signets.
I'm sure that she'll be all set for trade skills and rep items by the time WOTLK hits the market. Until reading this thread, I hadn't even considered the possibility of saving materials for trade skills and reputations. Is anyone else getting ready for their Death Knight?

I'm hard at work farming money for my DK for the epic mount quest at 60, the epic flying mount, and anything that might be needed on Northrend. I have yet to decide on tradeskills though, since it depends on what WotLK has to offer. I intend on making my DK a tank, and if it's like TBC was, blacksmithing might not end up being the most useful profession (at least not armorsmith, weaponsmith is debatable).
I don't think I'll be working on rep items though, since I'm not likely to be using those items for long. Sure blizzard has stated that end-game epics won't be replaced until late WotLK, but they have yet to specify what's considered "late WotLK". Also with blizz looking more to casual players I find it hard to believe lvl 80 epics will be much harder to get, while being better.

If you have only 1 lvl 55 alliance char, can you make a horde DK or does it have to be Alliance?

Why roll a death knight? Who cares I'm not! Warrior since day one and thats how it will be. I am the supreme tank, and the ultimate PVP weapon. Case closed.

wow way to much time on your hands if your farming for all that stuff o_O; when its going to mean Zero lol because of the new Rep / Factions that will give you more then likely better stuff. As for farming mats to level up your like Professions thats cool. But not Zanger Rep lol.

Quick XP if nothing else, and much quicker with the main toon.

Is outlands rep really required, seems as everyone will be heading directly to northend?
Draelar Jun 26th 2008 4:32AM
You will need to level a DK from 60-70 in Outland, not Northrend. So yes, it is useful to get that rep up.

Well, noone knows for sure until we get in game and sewe e what they are doing. For all we know they could throw a loop and make the factions useable in northrend. That would be VERY nice. But, judging on their 60 factions that are all together useless now - at least if you intend on doing anything at 70, then no. It's a waste of time to farm up rep items. Lets face it you only do the rep grinds for a few select items, say...heroic keys or epic's which will become outdated real fast.

I'm not sure if I've got this wrong or right, but I ordered my copy already anyway. According to amazon.com, the Lich King will be released on November 3rd, 2008:

Thats just retailers trying to cash in on pre-order money. They dont know a release date anymore than we do. Its just a guess.
superfrank Jun 26th 2008 5:28AM
A|mazon have been saying it will be out since January 2008.
TBH that's fraud when they know for sure that no release date has been set.
Someone needs to do something about this.
Ancalimon Jun 26th 2008 6:27AM
@ superfrank, it isnt fraud unless they take your money and don't send the merchandise. dates of release are always subject to change. so as long as you recieve the game when it is actually released, there is no fraud.

Also, you must realize that e-commerce sites like amazon are databases. The release date is more than likely a required field for them to even create the entry. They have to put something in, you cant just leave a release date blank on something that people are ordering. Yes, they could have a place holder for the release date instead of choosing an actual date, but if the game/movie/etc was delayed and not released for months after the target, then they would have missed out on potential income if they dont list a specific date (accurate or not). It all comes down to buyer beware. If blizzard hasn't released a date, then use a little common sense and dont worry about what anybody else is saying.

One of the first High lvl Jewelcrafters on server. I got myself 1ook saved up so i can spend the first couple hours of Wotlk powerleveling Incription from 1-375, i'm sure i will have enough afterword to deck out my Dk when the time comes.
Mandark Jun 26th 2008 3:52AM
imho farming Outland rep is useless...

Preparing for a Death Knight?
I'm waiting to buy my gold until after the expansion comes out, because I think inflation will drop gold prices.
I could be wrong, though-- maybe increased demand will increase gold prices.
Whichever you think, time to prepare!
Super Guest Man 9000 Jun 26th 2008 3:54AM
Good to know you're gonna get ready by cheating and breaking the ToA
Thijz Jun 26th 2008 4:44AM
Lol, you just made a complete ass of yourself :P
I'm just busy lvling my alts to be able to choose between several characters when Northrend opens. I think Blizz will give Death Knights enough possibilities to catch up with other players so I'm not really 'preparing'
NeSuKuN Jun 26th 2008 3:33AM
nice way to waste a lot of time, like pre-TBC factions, TBC factions will be totally outdated when wotlk factions appear, it has even been said by the devs! each expansion is a full reset, not only items-wise but factions wise too.
