Around Azeroth: Smile!

The first time I ever saw Tethyr -- just a few weeks ago on my Alliance hunter -- I completely freaked. I alt-tabbed from the game and shot off an instant message to Dan O'Halloran. "Why is Theramore being attacked by a gigantic fish-man?" Dan responded, "No idea," and that was the end of things. In this picture, taken by Izaa of <Hopes Fate> on Dark Iron, Tethyr almost looks happy, even though he appears to be choking to death on an Everlasting Gobstopper. Maybe he got tickets to the WWI?

WoW seriously needs more events like Tethyr, both quest-wise and Randomly. I know about the random elemental attacks etc. but I've never SEEN them. They're out of the way and rare at best.

I did that quest for the first time a few weeks ago. It was one of the best ones I can remember doing while leveling up this alt.
Hopefully blizzard will add more quests like this in wotlk.

Incidentally the entire time I spent leveling my lock to 70, as many times as I went to Theramore, I never saw this guy.
Then when I was in the process of leveling my rogue, I finally saw him. The first time I kind of freaked out like "ZOMG SKULL LEVEL BOSS" but realized it was part of a quest once I did it.
From then on I just used him to level weapon skills. You won't aggro him unless all the guards die and the player doing the quest dies.

Tethyr is the best boss to come out of the 2.3 patch. I was flying from Gadgetzen to Ratchett and there he was. At the time, no one in the guild knew anything about him. I have killed him so many times and, when we head to Mudsprocket to kill Onyxia, guildies delight in saying over Vent, "Hey Gimmi. Someone's killing Tethyr," which provoke an agonized, "NOOOOO" from me.
I wish he were call-able. Make him a daily quest. You gotta swim out to Nat Pagle and get some stinky lure which you turn in at the lighthouse. Or, after a failed attempt, you have to follow him to his lair. There are so many things that could be done with Tethyr.
So when does a "Godzilla"-like thing attack Grom-Gol?
