Where's the Wrath cinematic?
So it's Monday now, the Worldwide Invitational in Paris is officially over, Diablo 3 has been announced and we've got tons of new info about Wrath of the Lich King -- but where's the cinematic? We know the Wrath cinematic is coming, but there was no sign of it at all at the WWI.Then again, if you look at the timeframes, it's still a little soon -- the acclaimed Burning Crusade cinematic actually dropped on the Spike Videogame Awards in December of 2006 (just a month before BC was actually released in January of 2007), so since there's still some time until the Wrath release, there will still be some time until the cine shows.
In fact, it's looking more and more like BlizzCon 2008 might be the place to see it. With a rumored release date of sometime in November, Blizzard's big convention in October would probably be the perfect place to show off the next, undoubtedly beautiful chapter in the fall (and maybe even redemption?) of Arthas Menethil. Plus maybe they'll put a Gnome in there this time around.

I was just wondering this myself. Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 both got cinematic trailers when they were announced, but WotLK only got an in-game trailer, which was more of a teaser than anything else.
I'd say Blizzcon would be a safe bet to see it (along with a release date, maybe?). With the little Wrath info we got from the WWI, people will be craving anything about the game come October.

Oh Mike. Don't you know there were already Gnomes in the cinematics, but they're just too small to see?

"Plus maybe they'll put a Gnome in there this time around."
... being ripped apart by an army of ghouls. Yes please :)

A female gnomish deathknight with pink hair completely obliterating a menacing tauren.
*the crowd goes wild*

WLK is an expansion. Have they ever done a cinematic teaser for an expansion? If you recall, we got an in-game-engine teaser for BC as well (at blizzcon 2005) staring Optimus Prime and a similar (but even better one) at blizzcon 2007 for WLK.
Plus, the star of the show was D3. Why steal its thunder with another cinematic?

Without a doubt the Wotlk trailer will figure a gnome... a death knight female gnome with pink ponpons!!! Tremble, mortals!!!
Just Kidding... but...
Think about it: in the previous trailers, we have tauren shamans, Night Elf druids, human mages, undead warlocks, orc warriors, draenei paladins, Blood Elf Priests, and finally, Troll and Dwarf Hunters, the obvious choice for the future gnome either rogue or death knight, the yet-to-appear-in-WoW-cinematics
classes.
Either choice Blizzard makes will be hillarious: imagine a rogue gnome vs and jormungar worm or a Dk gnome summoning ghouls.
Oh, the expectations...

A gnome Death Knight would be ridiculous. But, I'd love to see it. lol

They better put a Gnome in the Cine... They got all the races except the best... Send in The Gnomes!!!!!

No Wrath opening cinematic? Then what exactly was this Twitter post referring to:
WoWInsider Liz: Listening to the Wrath of the Lich King opening cinematic in French over and over again at WWI. It's strangely disorienting. 04:51 AM June 28, 2008 from web
Camaris Jun 30th 2008 5:40PM
The key word there would be "listening" ;) The opening score has been heard already (and was performed by Video Games Live too, I believe).
Arlendor Jun 30th 2008 5:42PM
The score? What would "aahhhhh ooohhh eeehh" (that would be the choral voices) be in French?
SuperSoda Jun 30th 2008 5:27PM
People have really been asking for a gnome, and with all that gnome DKs running joke it would definetly be a nice move.
Camaris Jun 30th 2008 5:39PM
A cinematic style gnome on a battle strider would rock too though. Just a very tough, tinker gnome on a robot.
Blizzcon 2008 in October you say? Comparing with the TBC development timeline, that may very well be the event where something major has to happen. At least the cinematic, hopefully an actual release date.
Also, in comparison with TBC, closed beta could theoretically be only a few weeks away, although of course there is no real way to know.
Camaris Jun 30th 2008 5:44PM
And after reading the Rumor posted earlier just now.. that could be true, as it fits the TBC timeline almost exactly.. hmmm.

Just to let you guys know, I had a talk with one of the guys on the cinematics team at the Starcraft signing session at WWI and (after talking about their new rendering process using Pixar's Renderman), he told me they were currently nailing the Wrath cinematic and that it would probably be shown at BlizzCon 08. Hope that clears some stuff up. I was disappointed too not to see it in Paris!

Wasn't the "So come then, you heroes" cinematic the WotLK cinematic?
Mike Schramm Jul 1st 2008 1:31PM
Hell no, man, that was ingame stuff. Blizzard cinematics are the thing of legend. They are what cinematics are meant to be.
Frederik Jul 1st 2008 1:34PM
Ah, I didn't remember that it was an in-game cinematic.
