Why do we WoW before WotLK
The Part Time Druid posted a bit of an existential question -- "Why do we WoW?" It was followed up over on the Altoholic. And while their musings on the motivations for gaming are notable, I'm happy they avoided questions around that horrible WoW-addiction issue. I'm not much of the navel-gazing type, so I wasn't concerned about why I play WoW, in and of itself. (Presumably, I get something out of it, so fair enough.)But, with pre-expansion blues (and excitement) crashing down on our heads -- why are we playing right now? Our gear's about to go obsolete (and we're about to put on our green-quality clown-suits), our level cap's about to go up 10 levels, and the whole world as we know it is going to be radically different! Oh, yeah, and those guys are going to be around, stealing our tanking spots and doing Elune knows what else! (Anyone else notice they're the first class to have two words as part of their name?)
For me? Nothing special about the pre-expansion time period. I play the same reason I always do. I play with my girlfriend, I play with my friends. I play in the Arena. In a year, what I've done now might not matter to what I'm doing then. But what I'm doing now matters now -- and for now, I'm having fun.

and ofcourse badge T6 gear will be worthless-.-
get a clue
yes, the set bonuses are nice for staying alive, but not really worth the disbenefits.

Kalecgos attempts, after that Brutallus attempts etc etc.

Working on Sunwell, we're 2/6 now, and having a great time. Leveling an alt too, so it's ready for Lich King.
Still plenty to do, having lots of fun.

Running my 29 twink guild and playing my three 29 twinks.
On my first and newly 70 hunter, making a name for myself in PUGs as leetsauce CC/DPS everyday in hopes of getting into a great guild for now and the future.
Plus, loads of rl friends play and it's always cool to talk about WoW outside of WoW. Well..."cool", depends on where you are, but enjoyable everywhere.

Gearing up my t6 rogue with as much Sunwell gear as possible, leveling another rogue to 70, and ebaying my geared rogue a few months before WOTLK. That way I'll make so money for the countless hours I've spent and not become sad that my gear will be replaced with lvl 80 greens. Also, my new rogue will become my main and will continue raiding with my current guild into WOTLK. :)

My wife and I are altaholics who level alts together. I have a Rogue and Priest at 70, and just got a Warrior to 70 a couple of weeks ago. She's got a Mage, Pally, and Priest at 70.
Now we're working on two druids.

I play because there's still more content I haven't seen. I'd like to see my guild kill Archimonde and Illidan before the next expansion.

Playing WoW is good for passing the time away.

Cause I can't stop!!!
LOL...I play because it is fun. 2 years into the game and I am still learning different classes. Its not about having the best gear all the time. I remeber that I grinded my butt off to get Kara attunment so I could go to kara and hours before the patch to remove attunment dropped I got to the last step of attunment. Thats the nature of this game, it is something everyone needs to accept and the minute you stop playing for fun...you should just stop playing

So much reason to be playing! my guild is pushing BT after getting arch down a couple weeks ago. we're at 4/9 right now so it's my hope we get illidan down before the expansion. it's no slump for me right now, though I'm looking forward to the expansion there's still plenty of content for me to master.

Fun? Sure... but the pre-expansion blues are, for me, really boredom.
I could scramble to get into a guild that's going to progress in SSC/TK and beyond. With the gear on my spriest, I could probably get into one of the BT guilds. But I don't want to raid 4-6 nights a week (esp during summer!). I've got 2 epicced 70s, so gear-wise there's not much more to do and I've run most heroics and Kara so much I could do it asleep. I BGed a bit today which was sort of fun, but with 4 maps and the same old same old in terms of strategy (which people can't seem to follow... ) that's repetitive too.
So it's not so much blues as it is blahs. Hence I've ratcheted back play time and might respec the priest Holy for some variety. But honestly, I'm in coast mode from now until WotLK.

Because gold never goes out of fashion.
Also, I'd like my pair of mains to be armed to the proverbial gills with food, drink, pots, flasks, injectors, poisons, reagents, explosives, bandages. This time, I'll be prepared. Oh yes.
That and I want to shift my old stock of gems and metals before they sink in value, and use that money to buy up a lot of the Herbs, given that's what Inscription apparently needs. Then sell them for an enormous mark-up come the very first day of expansion. And laugh as people will buy them for their Death Knight Inscribers.
Chaogod Jul 5th 2008 2:00AM
I want to see the end game content while i still can.
Also i PvP on my rogue for fun.
And leveling a shaman. So i am occupied.
Taytayflan Jul 4th 2008 7:12PM
Anyone else notice they're the first class to have two words as part of their name?
Yes, I did. So, instead of "Combat-Swords Rogue" it's gonna be "Unholy Tank Death Knight." Another word, OMG!
CvijaFaQ Jul 4th 2008 8:52PM
I play because the video game is fun... that's about it.
Lilyana Jul 4th 2008 10:42PM
Simply because end game gear lasts till 80. Its still worth it (if you're far enough end game).
Also the drama, etc of guilds, its all kinda better than slumping in front of the tv.
Juliah Jul 4th 2008 11:48PM
I still have a lot to accomplish with all of my characters! I want to finish up Enchanting. I want to finish getting my Consortium rep up. Many things.
Zanzi Jul 8th 2008 9:30AM
"Anyone else notice they're the first class to have two words as part of their name?"
I'm confused. What about "Overpowered Warlocks" and "Frickin' Rogues"? Are those not their class names? ;-)
