Breakfast Topic: If you could change one thing
Being a roleplayer, I spend a lot of time thinking about my characters in the context of the world, rather than just pumping their stats. Sometimes I regret making certain characters a certain class. Sometimes I wish I had picked a different race for them. Other times, I wish I could just display things on the character that we currently can't. For example, I would probably give my Paladin a more 'angry' expression if I could go back and change it, rather than the more neutral, aloof expression they have now. I would change my Priest's hair to make it longer, since she's kind of grown out of the cutesy short hairstyle. It doesn't go very well with Absolution. One of my friends wishes their Human Mage was a Draenei instead.
The dance studio and barber shop in Wrath will help some of this, but there's still quite a bit of character customization that we don't have. And sometimes, you just plain feel like you made a mistake 30+ levels after you rolled your character, and you feel like it's too late to turn back. Have you ever felt this way? If you were given an opportunity to change one thing about your character, anything at all, what would it be?

I wish I could have a tattoo as well :(
If I could change one thing then I would probably change his beard/mustache or his hair (its really long) which we can thankfully do in WolK :)

Yes, I would change the goofy, near-retarded expression my main (pally) has. I made him 3 years ago when I had a Dell Pentium III from 2000 and an ATi ALL-IN-WONDER crap card. Honestly he looks like he has a cleft lip, and when I built my old computer with an AGP 9550 and actually turned up the resolution, I basically just accepted the fact I would enable "show helmet" unless I had to stare at some clown colored helm (like Mulgar's Warhelm from Gruul). The hairstyle is ok (looks like He-man) but what I wish I could do most is 1) color my own armor or get a tailor or blacksmith to "dye" them for a small fee and 2) repec for free in major cities with my fav specs saved in-game. That would cut down on the tanking shortage more than creating a new tanking class or buffing pets to tank 5 mans...imo.

70 gnome warlock? wish it was a 70 orc warlock. Or any horde warlock...
Nick S Jul 6th 2008 6:57PM
me too. your gnome is too hard to click on in AV.

although I guess I could "grow" a beard now to cover his lip problem...

"I wish I rolled horde"

I actually want to change my Taurens skin/fur colour all together, but that's probably not possible.
Hopefully they could allow one re-vamp of your character at release of WotLK :(

I'd say broadening the selection to three basic body types: slim, average, and hulked-out. That way your Mage wouldn't have to look like a transvestite bodybuilder unless you WANTED him to.

Oh yes, I agree with you. I might actually want to roll some male humans and NEs, if they weren't so overmuscly.

I wish I could change my 70 undead warlock to a human. My wife and I played a priest/warlock combo to 70 on a PVP server, then she decided that she neither wanted to see the endgame stuff, nor did she want to level another character. However, almost all of my friends are Alliance on another server. the other server part isn't a big deal; I don't mind eating the fee. However, there's no way in hell I'm leveling another warlock to 70.
I understand Blizzard's reluctance to allow for side-swapping on the same server; however, it makes little sense when moving a character from one server to another, particularly if the player is more than happy to change races, as well. This is one of those things that I suspect will never change, but it's pretty much top of my list.

I often wish I had rolled horde instead.

a post on wownewsroom.com has a post on best classes and races for roleplaying. I agree with that mostly. I wish I could change my class from a hunter. I can't though, too late.

my current main is a hunter, and i now wish i rolled a different class. taking the good with the bad tho, i'm still having fun playing him in post-70 content and as far as being the sugar daddy for my druid and priest, i can't imagine a better farmer than a decently equipped hunter with epic flier, maxed fishing, maxed cooking. i can turn a few hundred g/hour which makes for some fun AH'ing. =)

Wish I could make my tauren warrior an orc....or change my horns at least, I really dont like the forward horns, I dont know why I went with them. /facepalm

I would make my human lock undead. I'm purely horde now (I have seen the light..er... darkness?) and I miss playing a lock, but I'll be damned if I wanna level another one XD

I would dearly like to change the class of my character...problem is that the class I'd like to play isn't available for his race. I think that Blizzard should have a series of quests (Heavy on the lore) within the game to allow a character to change class, even to one that isn't normally available to his race. After all in RL there are always people who take very different pathways though life that the majority don't so why not in WoW as well. Of course there should be consequences as well...perhaps with reputation etc but that would be for Blizzard to sort out.
Tenchan Jul 6th 2008 11:37AM
This.
As a roleplayer, I see class as a choice of living a certain way, made by my character. More often than not, my characters live a life in the game that changes them in some way, and more than once, that included changing what they do with their life. It has always irked me that I had to either reroll, or roll a second version of a character, just because my character changed his mind about swinging a sword and started to find magic really cool.
Nick S Jul 6th 2008 6:59PM
The problem with that idea?
Tauren rogues.
digitalwindow Jul 6th 2008 7:07PM
Heh is that any worse than Gnome Warriors? :D
