Breakfast Topic: The world ends in five hours...
Matticus was originally asked this question, and he's been asking it of people around the WoW blogosphere, so we'll ask it here, too: Assuming that Blizzard suddenly announced that the entire World of Warcraft would be shut down in just five short hours, what would you do with your time?Automagica would head for World PvP in Hillsbrad. Eye for an Eye would head into the Horde cities for a final extermination. Destructive Reach would do some old-fashioned exploring, both in instances and out, and get contact information for a lot of ingame friends. And Double Bubble, after one last Kara run, would go back to a favorite fishing hole with a favorite pet, and serenely wait for the world to end.
As much as I love instances, I've already run them so much, and I worry that most of my five hours would be taken up with trying to find a group, so I'd probably quest solo (assuming the servers would actually stay up). My Hunter, at 65, would probably too far behind to finish off at 70, so I'd probably do a mad dash for 70 on my Rogue, currently 68. And I'd end the world just as I dinged the highest level on my second 70, which I would consider a proud accomplishment. What would you do with your last five hours in Azeroth?

I'd take my main NE Hunter to Winterspring and have him sit at the top of Frostsaber Rock with the Frostsaber trainers so he can train frostsabers for the rest of his days.

Gather a raid group of friends, run Deadmines, party on the boat. Goonies never say die, after all.

Haha thats amazing!
jbodar Jul 10th 2008 6:43PM
Damn, now I wanna run Deadmines again. It's been so long.

Head to Goldshire, reinstate the Goldshire fightclub for a few hours and then /sleep on the bed upstairs at the Inn. After all my Paladins been through he's deserved rest.

I would open an account for each of my charators, then bring them all together(at last),for a major party.
They've had to limit their contact to mail so far. :*/

I'd get 5 stacks of Whiskey, sit on the stationary ship in Menethil and reminisce with all my guild buddies.

Honestly, I think I'd go do anything else. I already play so infrequently that another 5 hours wouldn't matter.

Im not sure what i would do in this situation probably world pvp and explore, maybe roll an alt somwhere i had never played before and see how far i can level, but fully immerse myself in the gameplay, not rightclick, 2,3,2 rightclick. it reminds me of when we were doing a BM run though, and we were told at the begining the server was about to shut down, we did the whole run just in time, we had 2 seconds when the final boss had been looted, and i gto my epoch mender staff which i had been going for for ages. it was a very cool feeling that we did it in time.

I'd log off. What's the point in playing 5 hours on a game that's going to die?
Percinho Jul 10th 2008 8:52AM
Quite right. I'd go down the pub. chin chin!

My sentiments exactly. If WOW is going down I have no reason to put in another minute. I would move on to build some other time consuming inanimate object that does nothing for my real life.

I'd buy the first round!
grofer Jul 10th 2008 8:28AM
google about private servers and post some "fuck you Blizzard" threads on the official forums
jrb Jul 10th 2008 12:10PM
excellent! :)
of course, you could just do that already.

I would log into AV and continue to curse anyone who takes FWGY before RH. When will people ever learn??
Then I would take my warrior and wade into Thunder Bluff. The game might be ending for me, but I sure as heck would want to take a bunch of those darn Tauren with me :)

Simply log out and play something else ^^

One last massive gankage on the Alliance for old times sake. Spend some hours reminiscing with guildies. Get my Char really smashed. Then leave him on a farm to rest in peace for the rest of his days.
Gforce Jul 10th 2008 8:34AM
LOL...
What if...WHat if...What if...
Pointless question as the only way WOW is going to do that is when the Real world would end aswel haha..
Anyway think i would Reinstal 1 of the many other Online games available and start trying those out.
