PTR maintenance concludes, Hallow's End up for testing
An apparently new Blizzard employee named 'Boxinabox' (uh, what?) has just announced that the PTR is back up and fully functional after a 'maintenace' period. Man, who the heck is this guy/gal?
The interesting part about this phase of the Test Realm is that Hallow's End is up for testing! We might get to see Horseman mounts if the models that have been dug out of the game files are any indication, but we won't really know until we actually see them drop. Maybe they've gotten rid of the oh-so-phallic Broom mounts this time around? We'll find out, won't we?
If you're interested in checking out and testing Hallow's End before it gets pulled, you ought to hurry and get on the PTR. Brewfest was pulled after only a few days, so your time may be limited.
Edit: Never mind. See you in 5-7 hours!

I'm betting boxinabox plays "kingdom of loathing"

I am guessing it's a reference to a parody of a certain Justin Timberlake SNL appearance.

Wow, KoL, how could I forgoten about that wonderful game... oh right WoW. Should really check it again, pretty sure my account is still around, having Mr.A itemds and all.
Anwywhoo, I hope the brooms wont get removed. I loved riding a broom, made me feel like a proper warlock. My GF has a shaman named Weatherwitch and she loved flying around on a broom too, so really hope they will still be around.

I just logged into the PTR and do not see any Hallow's Eve anything?

"I am guessing it's a reference to a parody of a certain Justin Timberlake SNL appearance."
Yes, I believe you're right. Ugh, what a lame yet overexposed joke that was. (The parody, I mean. "Dick in a Box" was absolutely piss-your-pants funny.)

there was a blizzard rep just named Box that rarely posted and never said who was behind the name.

boxinabox was a video spoof of the justin timberlake dick in a box skit from SNL...

Errrmmm if I'm not mistaken the next thing to be tested publicly will be ... WOTLK?
Before this Hallow's End event went to the PTR we had the patch 2.4.3 up for testing. That's going to be released anytime soon. So they are testing what's coming up after that. Hallow's end! That is released in NOvember which is around the release date of WOTLK so like I said, If Im not mistaken they will open the BETA after this? :)
morn Jul 11th 2008 2:05AM
Yes and other than the fact you just made up a Nov release date for WotLK - I completely agree with you...
SBKT Jul 11th 2008 2:44AM
Morn, most Gamestop or linked stores seem to have the date registered as November 16th of this year. I really doubt it myself because, well, this is Blizzard.
On the brooms themselves... The only thing they'd be bad for is Harry Potter references. I'd love to get one.
Or a vaccuum, like they used in that one stupid movie.

any company offering pre order sales of an item are required to provide a launch date before they can offer the option to preorder, when there is no official date they have taken to making them up and most times publicly stating that these are at best a guess (remember the gamestop quote for tbc, this date has been made up by guys in the back after consulting entrails etc etc, too long ago, i forget exactly) anyway, this has become so commonplace especially in this industry that the rider is rarely bothered with now.
summary: gamestop do not tell blizz when to release wrath
andy Jul 11th 2008 8:13AM
so...boxinabox...just more evidence that blizzard does as little as it can to enforce its own naming policies...

Morn, I didnt make uo a release date. Blizzard announced officially that the game would be released on the second half of th 2008. Blizzcon is in october so they will most likely announce the release date there. After october theres only 2 months left till the end of the year. Even if they release the game around xmas time itll still be around Hallows End just like I said. Its closer to Hallows End than WWI for example. Its only a month apart. But yeh, defenetly a November release.

yes, that was what I was referring to. *g*
Naix Jul 11th 2008 9:42AM
"oh-so-phallic Broom mounts"
It's only phallic if your looking for it. Other wise its just a broom to everyone else.
