Extended Maintenance for tomorrow, July 15th

Here's a quick heads up: It looks like tomorrow's maintenance will be lasting from 3am PDT to 11am PDT, for a total downtime of 8 hours. Anyone who usually plays during that time, it looks like you'll have to find something else to do (such as read WoW Insider).
An 8 hour downtime sometimes heralds a new patch, and we do have patch 2.4.3, which features land mounts at level 30 and a Cheat Death nerf, on the PTR at the moment. Then again, there was a new version of the patch applied just a few days ago, which could mean they'll want some more testing time, so we can't say for sure if it's coming.
Right now, I'd say that there's an even chance that we'll see 2.4.3 going live tomorrow, but either way, stayed tuned to WoW Insider. We'll let you know as soon as we know for sure.

What? No! I figured the patch would be weeks or months away and went ahead and bought my mount last night! Crap!! I have a very expensive horse.

lol, whats wrong with you people? repair and expendables for a good night of sunwell raiding are more than the mounts price.
whats it take to get 100g these days? couple fast dailies..

Ah... 65g. If you have only ONE character then it might matter - but you can make 65g in an hour or less with the dailies! It's just too small of an amount to worry about now.

Lets see from 3-5:45 I'll be asleep or at least dreading getting up. From 5:45-11 I'll be getting ready for work, driving to work, and you guessed it working and getting ready to go to lunch.

Eh. Gold is so easy to make now that I didn't bother stalling...got right to 40 (on a new server re-roll, even) and bought the mount. Ain't no big deal. :)

I'm stalling leveling my new mage simply because I don't want to run the length of STV repeatedly on foot! Money isn't even a factor in that decision.

Pretty sure it'll go live tomorrow. The new series of the WoW trading card game is already out so it'd make sense that they patch it now. There'll be people (including myself) itching to use their loot cards!

this is my first big patch i will have seen since i started playing. Do they usually mention before hand that its coming out, or just boom...it comes out?

Usually it's "Boom, it comes out". Your start up your client, it downloads something (or at worst, you sign in and the downloading begins then), installs, and your client is updated. :)
