WoW Insider Show episode 46: When the cat's away
We had a very special WoW Insider show last Saturday. With the usual suspects out of town Daniel, Robin, Duncor and I had a blast talking about all kinds of juicy goodness. You can download the show and listen to it whenever you like.
- I've recently gotten my new Blizzard authenticator, and I'm really happy about it. Other folks are not quite as enthusiastic about it.
- We discussed the current state of Mages and Paladins.
- We had a number of great emails from our listeners. Daniel told us all about Death Knight Role-Playing.
I didn't talk about my car once, but I did throw a motorcycle reference in there. I got a chance to play the role of host, sorry folks, no giggling or flirting involved. Was it as good for you as it was for me? We shall have another special guest host for the next podcast. Be sure to join us every Saturday on WC Radio at 3:30 PM.

It should also be noted that while you tried to convince people of the idea otherwise, WoWinsider has a Horde bias. You cannot deny that.

I deny that WoW Insider has a horde bias.
twh Jul 16th 2008 3:20AM
I believe you, Rossi, but I don't believe Dean, Schramm, and the rest of them who don't hesitate to take pot shots at the Alliance to show how Hard Up For Horde they are.

LOL.
I assume the picture above is of the Retribution Amandin?

Yeah, that was a screenie for a post just after my account got hacked. Rockin' the AH greens because when I got her back she was about nekked. Not sure why they left the sword, sadly, I'm not wielding it anymore.

BTW
The authenticator is required for the account management site.

The Mage segment was disappointing to say the least: three people who don't play the class agreeing Mages are just fine as they are barely qualifies as ah idle conversation, much less in-depth discussion.

I agree, nobody in their right mind would ever doubt the viability of mages in five mans. But that's also not where the complaints stem from. Mage damage is low in raids, and lack the necessary utility to hold raid spots in anything that isn't on farm. I feel like they really missed that point. I think these podcasts would benefit greatly from having somebody who is a dedicated raider and actually knows the mechanics and issues that go along with it.
This podcast's panel is filled with casuals or those who don't raid. There is of course nothing wrong with that, other than it doesn't give them the perspective necessary to see this problem. I thought the podcast was awfully uninformed and filled with horribly ancedotal evidence such as "When I see trade chat recruitment they never asks for rogues, so mages must be fine" or "I know guild and there actually LOOKING for mages."
Perhaps it would have been better to invite Christian Belt, the author of the original article, or even somebody who actually does play a mage, to defend his/her views because they could have brought in much better points and kept the other podcasters more honest with their points.

You did it wrong, it's not Duncor, it's Not Turpster. Also, seriously, the mage segment was terrible, at least get the guy who wrote the article to talk about it. Or at least talk to someone who's gotten a mage to 70.

"I didn't talk about my car once..."
"...every once in a while I lose my car; and I love my car."

Sorry about that.. just one. And I could lose anything. Whenever I do, my boyfriend says, "check the freezer."
Driphter Jul 17th 2008 3:43PM
lol I was just playing. :P My girlfriend like to put odd things in the fridge as well... Perhaps another He Said, She Said topic?

Regarding paladins, you also forgot the other major important thing:
Paladins have no passive mana regeneration. Not like Evocation for mages, Water Shield for Shaman, and so on. Once a pally's out of mana, that's it. And no, Seal/Blessing/Judgment of Wisdom doesn't count.
Chewisnoob Jul 16th 2008 10:33AM
You run into the fire and get healed to get your mana back xD

I thought this episode was garbage. I can't stand the "porky pig" sounding Amanda Dean talk anymore. She stutters horribly and runs her sentences just for the sake of talking.
This post may be a bit mean, but come on...you want someone on a podcast that can speak and not stutter.....anyone else notice this??

Wow you guys are totally clueless and biased.
I am referring to when you talked about mages, you dont know anything, saying locks and rogues fall b ehind mages, you obviously dont know anything about raiding, mages fall behind every pure dps class and even warriors, check out wowstats.
And the guy is really bitter about mages being chosen above rogues pre bc u are a clueless idiot cant beleive I listened to this crap you dont know what the fuck you are on about which is stupid coz its ur job.
Idiots.
