Strange things are afoot at the Grim Guzzler
A lot of us pre-Burning Crusade players hold a warm place in our hearts for the Grim Guzzler, the bar in the middle of Blackrock Depths. It's a hangout for desperadoes and shady figures run by a leper gnome with a demonic bar wench and a metallic bouncer. Most of the patrons would usually kill you as soon as look at you, but as long as they're drunk and you don't bother them too much, they'll generally leave you alone. Of course, sometimes it's worth bothering them, since a few of the patrons and staff drop some pretty cool loot.
Despite this charming atmosphere, the Grim Guzzler is in the middle of a sprawling dungeon of hostile Dark Iron Dwarves, so ever since the Burning Crusade, people don't seem to go down there too often. That said, you might want to check it out in the next few days. There's a few new faces down at the bar since patch 2.4.3 went live, including an Arena gear vendor named Griz Gutshank, a Dark Iron Brewer who can't hold his brew, and a couple of goblin roadies setting up for a Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain concert.
Check out the gallery for a complete illustrated guide to the new faces and surprises at the Grim Guzzler, and maybe I'll see you there tonight for the Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain concert. Oh, and try the Sulfuron Slammer -- It's Plugger's newest specialty!

Hey retardo Badger, here is some news for you: The content team and the bug fixing team are two different teams of people who don't cross over.
Badger Jul 16th 2008 2:05PM
Thank you, smartass, I know that now. I've been corrected on it repeatedly.
Scroll up and read any of the several posts where I admitted I was wrong.
Andrew Jul 17th 2008 2:44AM
Badger, don't apologise to these guys.
It doesn't matter if the bug fixing and content teams are separate - the players only see them both as one entity: "Blizzard". They should fix what they have before they try and give us something new. If that means reassigning resources to the bug fixing teams then so be it, I don't care how its done, just that it gets done.
Forum nazis who are in love with Blizzard - go ahead and vote down my comment now.

I don't raid, so stuff like BRD constitutes some of my "classic" WoW memories. It had an old school D&D feel to me, and getting a Barman Shanker was a rite of passage for us rogues.
Dunno if a holiday event is enough to get me to revisit th e place. When I was done with it, I was very done. That was one of the times I deactivated my account.
Baluki Jul 16th 2008 2:11PM
Whoa, that stuff is weird. Why the hell would they put all that stuff down there. Especially an Arena vendor! What are they planning with BRD that they need that stuff down there?
Maybe they're going to make an Arena based on the Ring of the Law or some other BRD-related thing. Could be cool, though I'd be surprised if they added so many more arenas, since they've already confirmed that the Dalaran Sewers and Orgrimmar Arena are coming.
It just seems like they're going to make the Grim Guzzler a more significant destination. Maybe they'll de-instance just the bar, so you can hang around with other people in there too. Anyone who's 70+ can get in there, and probably without aggroing anything too.
And maybe this is all in preparation for Brewfest again.
But man, the arena vendor...that's just weird.

"they've already confirmed that the Dalaran Sewers and Orgrimmar Arena are coming"
Whoa, seriously? When were these announced? I've wanted to see the Ring of Honor with some content attached to it for ages.
Daniel Whitcomb Jul 16th 2008 2:53PM
Badger,
They announced those new Arenas at the WWI, during the PvP panel.
And yes, I was thinking they might be considering using the Ring of Law as an Arena myself. Maybe as part of patch 2.4.4, to give us something to play with until WoTLK. It seems like a longshot, and it seems like if they were going to do it, they would have announced it at the WWI, but it would explain why they put a random Arena vendor in a level 55-60 dungeon.

Daniel: That would make sense, and I'd love to see it happen, but hasn't Blizzard already stated there would be no new content additions until WotLK hits shelves?
Daniel Whitcomb Jul 16th 2008 4:23PM
Well, I figure they meant "no new Major content patches" -- i.e., we shouldn't expect to see something on the level of 2.4 before WoTLK. However, they may need to give us something to keep us occupied in the 3-4 months minimum we have left until we see WoTLK hit live servers.
Because of that, I can still see us getting a very small content patch or two before WoTLK. At the least, I expect we'll see the level 80 talent trees and a few other minor WoTLK features a little bit ahead of the release.

First Arena vendors in BRD, what next? Badge Vendors in Onyxia's Lair? Hogger as an animal boss in Karazhan? A portal to RFC from Ironforge, and vice versa to the Stockades?
Madness!
Badger Jul 16th 2008 4:22PM
"Hogger as an animal boss in Karazhan?"
Dogs and cats, living together ... MASS HYSTERIA!

Anyways, I'm gonna get me somma day brew and make me grow big!
I get sick and tired of being a gnome sometimes >.
sephirah Jul 16th 2008 4:04PM
I've heard that in the next months Blizzard is planning to have an Arena Vendor come to each player house to sell S4 gear and epix vacuum cleaners.
Radiophonic Jul 16th 2008 4:10PM
lol @ Badger, appropriate name.
Maybe they're putting an arena in BRD? Ha!
Badger Jul 16th 2008 4:20PM
Believe it or not, that's not just a nickname - it's my real name. (I'm quite proud of it. How many Badgers can you say you know IRL?)
Also: There's been a bit of discussion about the possibility of an Arena there, actually. It's 99.9% speculation, as usual, but setting up the Ring of Law as an Arena - as Daniel suggests above (scroll up a few posts) - would make for some interesting battles.
Andrew Jul 16th 2008 5:17PM
It would be interesting if they set it up as a betting zone. Players could place bets on who would win the match, and in addition view the match in real time from the seats.
mizatt Jul 16th 2008 6:13PM
I doubt the same developers work on fixing bugs that work on adding things like this, but of course you guys wouldn't consider that, you'd rather just keep complaining about "graphical clipping bugs"

I showed up at 8pm my server time and was blessed by the awesome sound of storm earth and fire from L70ETC(who are still L70 btw) they played 1 song and disapeared, wonder if they play different songs.
