Say Hola to Latin American WoW July 25th
Blizzard is once again expanding its World of Warcraft player base. July 25th will mark the launch of Latin American Servers for Mexico, Chile, and Argentina
The launch will be accompanied by celebratory events with Blizzard staff:
July 25
Blockbuster Pilares
Av. Universidad #697
July 26-27
Plaza Satelite
The Spanish pack will also be available for existing North American players to transfer their characters. Blizzard will be offering free character moves to Ragnaros from selected realm. The two other Latin servers, Drakkari and Quel'Thals, will not be eligible for transfers for the first 60 days.
Blizzard is currently hiring for its US-based Spanish team. Help should be available at launch in Spanish on the dedicated servers. There is also a Russian version of WoW under development.

Pssst ... I think the Blog interface may have knocked a few words out of your sentence.

Ohh boy! say Hola to more screwed up translations, I hope we can play on the latin servers with the client in english because there is no way im calling forjaz to Ironforge, sometimes I think blizz uses the google translator for their non-english versions of their games.
Other than that i'm really excited because finally blizz shows us latins some love (right now you can't buy anything from their online store and have it delivered to a south american country, I hope that changes too when lich comes out) and maybe easier access to prepaid cards as well.

Very nice amigos!
(...and that is my entire Spanish vocabulary...except, didn't Sesame Street teach me to count?)
Hilus Jul 17th 2008 8:48PM
The three missing words are: México, Chile and Argentina...
The Latin Forum is on fire against Blizzard right now, because of the policy of free transfers (only to one PVP Realm , and only from a few Realms)...

Are those servers based in south america or are just US servers with spanish language packages on?
The reason i ask is i am from Brazil and i want to play WoW with a decent latency. If the Argentina server is REALLY there, i would cut from 400 to 100 my latency.
SidheKnight Jul 17th 2008 10:13PM
I was going to ask the same!
I'm from Argentina and I have an average of 400 latency when I play on US servers (Burning Blade), and it's pretty annoying to press a key and wait 1 or 2 seconds to see the char' casting the spell (those seconds can make a difference in Arenas or Battlegrounds).
And I also hope that the translation for latin america is decent, 'cause the one for spain is... too bad to describe.
Anyway, i'm glad that Blizz didn't forgot the latin wow community. thanks Blizz :D

Adorable1 Jul 17th 2008 9:08PM
Thank god! Maybe this means we can get them off the American servers. *cough* Warsong *cough*

Sorry man, I talked to brasilies i know and they said the latin servers dont support portuguese. Sadly, the brasialians are here to stay :( Brsong will oneday be all english speaking ( I can only hope)

Are there really that many people in South America who are interested in playing WoW?
My prejudice view on South America is that most people work hard for not very much and rather cherish the time they have with their family than waste time on the computer.
WoW starts to feel like a plague, slowly taking over the world.
Aracross Jul 17th 2008 11:15PM
Actually, a great (but sadly low) rate of south America lives like the 1st world.
And, let me say, your commentaries were pretty... ignorant.
TV usually lies.
Dightkuz Jul 18th 2008 2:33AM
I know it was ignorant, but most prejudices are.

I smell heavy comment deletion in this thread.
Yay for new servers!
Solex Jul 17th 2008 10:14PM
Pretty awesome first Latin America then Russia. Next up? Antartica.
Eternauta Jul 17th 2008 11:10PM
I hope they delete you're comment soon.
That's kind of discrimination.
Or maybe you were looking at this world map:

It wasn't meant to be? I wasn't trying to offend anyone nor do I see how they could be? WoW is localized in 5 continents now and that's pretty cool? Stop being overly sensitive and its your not you're. Please troll else where.

I do live near that Blockbuster so I'll drop a visit to buy another wo copy in spanish and get a sign from a guy from Blizz staff.
Blizz is doing it great: Latin american people plays in american servers all days, I have played this game since it lunched. I hope we will see a portuguese version soon as well.
