Enchanted in Northrend
- Enchant Cloak: Haste
- Enchant Cloak: Spirit
- Enchant Boots: Icewalker
- Enchant Cloak: Shadow Armor
- Enchant Gloves: Armsman
- Enchant Bracer: Expertise
- Enchant Weapon: Lifeward
- Enchant Gloves: Gatherer
There are also, of course, new ranks of old standbys, like Enchant Weapon: Greater Savagery, though these are not quite so interesting. I think we can safely say from the materials for these enchants that Infinite Dust is the new Arcane Dust, Cosmic Essence is the new Planar Essence, and Dream Shard is the new Large Prismatic Shard. There's also a missing item, #35047 - the new Void Crystal?
I'm glad to see the return of enchanter-made wands (Enchanted Crimson Wand, Enchanted White Wand), though the items have not yet been implemented, so we can't tell what the stats on them are going to be. That is a lot of Void Crystals, though, so hopefully they'll be pretty good. Overall, although I really hope they implement selling enchants on the AH, enchanting looks to be in pretty good shape for Northrend.

Well at least now we know what we'll be doing with all the voids we'll get from d/e'ing all of our Tier gear when it gets replaced by greens : D

Yeehah, finally some useful enchants for caster cloaks!
(Subtlety is great and all...until your tanks are geared. Then its biggest feature is not being an armor enchant.)

If Blizzard wants to make it easier for enchanters to sell their enchants over the AH or through other means, why not allow them to create scrolls? e.g., take some parchment, the reagents for the enchant, click "Create Scroll", and the reagents are used up just like you had enchanted an item but instead it creates a one-use transferable scroll that will allow someone else to use it kind of like a glyph or armor kit. That would also necessarily allow enchants to be more easily sold and transferred, as well.

There are certainly very easy ways to implement it, but the issue is not implementation.
Enchanting face to face is one of those old ideas Blizzard is clinging to. They want Enchanting to be unique in that way. It's one of their ideas that everyone hates, but never gets changed.
Also, think about it: Mats will be in very short supply, and the AH will be flooded with scrolls that nobody wants :b

Already gonna be in there at least for weapons... inscription to create treated vellum. Enchanter enchants it, then it can be applied by anyone to a weapon ;)

@ Blackhorn:
One of the things I don't like about enchanting is people always bring their own mats. So I miss out of profitting by selling mats. Making enchants on AH possible, as you said, shortens the supply of mats. This, to me, means they stay with enchanters, who can then benefit from both enchanting and raw material profit margin. This is a big win for enchanters.
This will be good for everyone else, too. The demand for enchanting mats won't fluctuate with the start of arena seasons and what not. You can stock up on what you need a few weeks in advance, and get your enchants right away when you get your new gear.
Also, grinding through enchanting levels won't mean the enchants have to go to waste: they can be saved for later, further increasing supply and lowering demand for all the consumers out there.

Inscribers will be the ones able to create scrolls- so a 'chanter may opt to take inscription ( im planning to for my lock- tailoring is getting stale )

Neat. Three cheers for old icons :) I wonder how much of the art is left to be done.
Either way. GIMMEH MUH KEYZ.

I always thought that enchanting should have good craftable wands, like the other professions. It is about time that they implemented this.
infection Jul 18th 2008 1:40PM
you are absolutely right.
the best wands you can get from enchanting was lvl 5 and 13
wands are such a huge non factor at 70, i dont see where it would hurt to be able to craft good stat wands, because that's all its used for, just like enchants.
but honestly, they should have blue wands throughout lvl'ing that can be made from enchanting. some class's actually do use wands when they are grinding through those 1-60 stages because they're talents are powerful enough. then you have to pay out the butt for the blue wands in the ah (which are only world drops) because lets face it, instances pre 70 are dead. anyone that is possibly running instances pre 70 are just only going to get worse if they are actually people doing it now.
once wotlk comes out, the bc instances will fall with them too. crafting will be the only real way to get a blue item or a high powered quest.
heck, bc instances are dead on our server NOW. if you aren't in a guild.. you dont run those. and even the normal 5 mans AT 70 are dead.
all that to say....
give crafting items a boost to help the grind.
Daniel Jul 18th 2008 1:25PM
hmm White Wand sounds like Healing while Crimson Wand sounds like Caster... maybe one spell crit other mp5? since there is only spell power in WoTLK now.
MechChef Jul 18th 2008 1:27PM
I'm counting on theorycrafters to figure out the best enchants for my slots. Ehcnanting for rogue PVE ispretty simple now. (primarily agility wherever possible, and stacking hit-rating.) With haste coming in strong at the end of BC and certainly throughout Wrath, I'm interested in seeing how it really begins to develop.

As it currently stands I will be giving up enchanting for inscription for the simple reason that is is largely only of benefit to other people. It is a constant source of aggravation that I have spent a considerable amount of time and money to level enchanting and I cannot use it to enchant soulbound gear on my other characters. Like all the other professions, it seems inscription will not suffer this restriction. So unless something changes in WotLK it is goodbye enchanting for me. The only hardship will be one more character that has to stand around looking for an enchant.
Tribble Jul 18th 2008 4:41PM
Here Here!
Yeah, its great to get the rare +35 AGI 2H enchant drop for all the hunters out there, until you want to enchant your druid alt's staff.
Then you have to go beg people for hours on end in Trade to get an enchant you have.
But I'm not bitter!
bmiller Jul 18th 2008 1:32PM
2-3 enchants every 5 skill points that go from yellow to green in 7-10 skill points. So much for powerleveling!
deviationer Jul 18th 2008 1:38PM
hey blizzard, where is the ability for us enchanters to sell our enchants on the AH? You said you are planning to allow us to do that in wrath.
Galladon Jul 18th 2008 1:52PM
Its about time they gave us wands back! Its only been what 40 levels?

I've only levelled Enchanting to 280. It's nice to be able to to enchant +stam/int/Fiery on AH items and send them to alts, as well as DE'ing my quest rewards and green drops, but I can't imagine pushing to 375. Guess I'll wait to see the DE skill requirement on Wrath gear. 325? I could do that.
