Neth teases about tattoos in Wrath

Nethaera has been pretty visible on the forums lately, answering a lot of questions about Wrath of the Lich King. She even popped into one discussion asking about the possibility of being able to change faces in the expansion if only to say that plastic surgery isn't in the cards quite yet. However, Neth mentions that players will be able to change hairstyles, facial hair, and possibly even get tattoos.So while some of us who've chosen wrinkled, old mugs might not get a rejuvenating facelift (and Undead who don't have jaws will continue to miss them), a lot of customization will be available in the form of new horns for tauren, jewelry, and maybe tattoos. Salthem states the same thing in another thread, saying that there's a lot of development to be done, but that this was the direction they were taking.
The April Fool's prank that Blizzard pulled this year featured the Guitar Hero-inspired Bard class, and pictures of the character had intricate tattoos on both arms. Some early speculation posited that it could be from the new profession Inscription. It could be that the tattoos were just an artist's embellishment for the prank, but it's equally probable that the barber shops in Northrend just might be tattoo parlors, as well.

yeah that is the greatest idea ever! I will go to raids naked, this way everyone will see my tattoos

It really doesnt seem like an idea worth putting much time into. The only thing most people notice on other characters is weapons, shoulder, and helms. Little details like eye color and hair style are hardly ever noticed my other people.

I've got a better idea:
Custom Combat Animations
Who isn't sick of the same kind of swing/cast? All directional spells are always the same, all AoE the same... All swings the same, all special swings basically the same...
If only you could change your combat animations and stances, it'd be a lot more useful than that silly /dance customization they're planning. Honestly, how often will you be /dancing instead of battling? :P

Who is to say you'll have access to all the stances/animations?
And why won't there be plenty others to choose from, or even combine? :P
Personally, I would only change a few animations, but they would make me invariably happy.

You're kiddin me right? last i looked.. horns were attached to the skull and predifined! hell why don't we just change night elf ears whilst we're at it?!
if this was customizable it could only really work on lessening currently existing horns ie, broken in battle. i can't see changing size to be bigger or the shape and colour to be different would work.
i like the idea of changing hair, facial hair and decoration though ;)

Horn changing for Tauren makes sense, because it's in the slot that facial hair would be for other races. It'll be the same with earrings and troll tusks.

Those of us from a farming background know that cattle's horns grow as they age. Just like our fingernails... you can cut them and trim them and they will grow back (not as fast as our finger nails)... Unless, you get the root when they are young.

Not really gonna happen. The only thing, at best, that is visable on a character is your head and that's only if you disable helm graphics. So changing facial/head hair is viable. But tatoos you'd only see if you people like to strut naked in town.

kolo: No, my parents wouldn't care. They also couldn't do anything about it if they did, as I'm 29. And if I happened to have kids then if they were old enough to get them legally I'd let them choose.
But this doesn't negate the fact that a lot of parents would care about it, and would care about it more than the other things portrayed in game as there's a very real possibility of kids getting tattoos when there is no real possibility of kids summoning a succubus in their bedroom.
