Forum post of the day: Too OP or not too OP
The news and analyses keep rolling in for Wrath of the Lich King. We've all got our pet talents and abilities we're psyched about. Everybody's going to get a shot in the arm. While Blizzard will balance and rebalance until release and then even after, some abilities stand out ad more exiting and powerful than others.
Issenaril of Blood Furnace is afraid that Titan's Grip is going to be an over powered ability. The ability allows Warriors specced 46 points into the Fury tree to swing two two-handed weapons at a slowed speed. With a maximum of five points in this ability, the weapon speed will be decreased by 20 percent. He believes that this ability will massively increase Warrior DPS and make imbalanced in PvP. Liganu agrees that a 50 point Fury build will be helpful in battlegrounds, but it won't be as viable in arena combat.
I'm leaning toward disagreement with the original poster. As Borogove of Alleria said, "No, because Fury is a garbage PvP tree? You'd have to be messed up in the head to be a pvping warrior and not want Bladestorm, the CC immunity ability warriors have wanted for years, on a 90 second cooldown." The way the talents look now, Arms is the spec to be for Arena PvP.
I think Titan's grip will be an excellent PvE ability, but will come up short in PvP. Of course this is subject to adjustment. I just can't wait to see a Gnome Warrior wielding two massive weapons. To me this seems somewhat more delightfully absurd than any other race, even with weapon size scaling.

I think Titan's Grip will also render any version of an Arms build useless. Sure, we'll et Bladestorm but it's not going to be anything compared to the Titan's Grip effects..

Yeah, 2 Two Handers is going to be scary but Fury DPS has always been higher and yet it's been arena crap compared to Arms. This change will help make fury more competitive however it's still going to be comparitively weaker without MS or the Complete CC immunity skill.

I think that the offhand will still do 50% damage

And Fury still has Dual Wield Specialization, a 5-pt talent that increases offhand damage by 25%. I'm just sayin'. I really think people are overestimating how OP Titan's Grip will be, anyway.

Shhhhhhhhh...if you QQ'ers ruin Titan's Grip for me before this thing launches I swear I will hunt down and corpse-camp your toons until the NEXT expansion!!!!!

After you run the math, titans grip increases white damage by only about 12-15%. Which is a lot, i understand, but in comparison to increase on other specs and classes, its not the absurd. It has no real pvp function, all it is is extra dps witch is all furry warriors really strive for, that little edge in pve. Just few seconds off a bosses lifespan. There are also plenty of great dps bonuses in the arms tree such as 5% more strength, ability to use execute before 20%, and increased bleed affects (there will be more bleeds in wotlk).

I can't really judge the OP's post itself because I never had any interest in Arenas or BGs, but I made the experience that most people who think a certain new skills is too strong tend to forget that all other classes get new stuff too that can put it all back in balance.

That picture is 100% win.

I love my WoW Model Editor, yes I do.

I'm more worried about the imba stats they'll get from wielding two 2-handers. It's comparable to a rogue being able to wield four swords.

I don't blame you i worked out if i used 2 axe of the harbringers from the isle boj seller and put savagery on them both i get a 391ap bonus if i include the 10% i get from the fury ap bonus. I think things are looking up for warriors...at last!

Hahaha that's one of the posts I replied to...
"/cast evasion"
Personally, I don't find it to be a problem. I'm sure everything has been somewhat balanced. Two handers are already slow, and hit hard, but this just makes them slower; and two of them. Considering the drawbacks of offhand weapons too.

I suspect it'll bring the hurt to clothies in pvp. >.>

As far as i know Titans Grip allows for the use of a 2hander in ONE hand. At least thats what the talents say. Wich would mean that a warrior has one 1hander and one 2hander in the other hand.
dan Jul 19th 2008 1:41PM
One hand not main hand. It allows for dw 2handers.

Diablo2 barbarian anyone?

I have a feeling this talent isnt going to be as powerful as most people think it will be. There are a few issues that people on the warrior forums have found that make me question whether titans grip will out dps a DW 1h talent build with a weapon spec.
Through some theory crafting a warrior on the forums found that your white dps will go down with titans grip. Although whether there will be an increase in yellow damage to make up for this is unseen so far.
Also it has been noted that if you suffer from a few miss/dodge/parries you will be out a ton of rage, which means you are losing a significant amount of dps. And they have also found that the slowing down of weapons due to titans grip not only works for 2 handers but it remains even if you are using a 1 hander, which means using a 1h weapon in the OH will not allow as much rage.
And the changes done to windfury might be a nerf to titans grip (or fury warriors in general im not sure). The decision to take out the extra attack + the AP takes away alot of burst damage. And the +20% haste is only going to equal out back to the original weapon speed because of the -20% weapon speed decrease the talent gives.
Of course it is possible that the added stats that you have on 2hers and the possibility of yellow damage being significantly more than the loss of white damage could make this all moot. I guess we will see.
(Sorry for not having any theory crafting, not too good at it myself but its all on the warrior forums if ya want to pick through it. And yes I know this post was originally about whether titans grip will be OP in pvp :P)

Pretty sure the hidden +100 Badass rating makes up for its lack of utility.
