WoW Moviewatch: Video Games Live performs a Warcraft Medley
After viewing the closing ceremony, I checked out their website and discovered that they were performing in Austin, Texas two weeks later! Armed with ticket and video camera, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was thoroughly pleased with the performance. They can only play about 20 of their roughly 50 arranged pieces per night, so I was treated to music from Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Starcraft, Super Mario Brothers, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and many others. In between the segments were games, costume contests, and commentary. At the end, they offer a meet and greet with the crew, as well as some video game industry professionals occasionally. In all, it's about a 5 hour event.

Video Games Live is a largely interactive performance. They encourage you to shout out or clap if you like something. This will be obvious in the video clip of the Warcraft medley. When it was over, Tommy Tallarico and Martin Leung were more than happy to give a shout out to WoW Insider and even encouraged me to post the video! The video stream doesn't do the song justice, so be sure to check out the high quality audio download. If you enjoyed the music, don't miss the release of their upcoming CD, which hits iTunes tomorrow and stores on the 24th.

It's funny you should make this today.
I just saw their show in Louisville, KY for the second year last night.
I was really disappointed : [
They played like four different songs than last year, and most of it was the exact same show, and they tried to impress the virtually same crowd with the same 'surprises'.
Even after they billed the show as 'completely new', it totally wasn't.
Anyway, I love the music, but there wasn't enough new stuff to justify going next year : [

I went about a year or so ago in LA. This was before they had a deal with blizzard and they just played the WoW opening cinematic music. Was kinda disappointed about that, but it was a great show otherwise. Later they played at the second Blizzcon the entire show and was just Blizzard music (of course) I wasn't there but have a crappy camcorder recording of it. I wish was I was there. So I looks like they've added some more of that to their show, gives me incentive to go see it again.
