Forum post of the day: Random acts of kindness
Of course there's a lot of bad blood between Horde and Alliance, but every once in a while we work together. About half of the times I've done the Ring of Blood quest line in Nagrand I've seen Horde and
Sometimes we just find ourselves compelled to do nice things. Sukalin of EU-Anarchronos told a tale of a complete stranger coming to his rescue:
Just a few minutes ago, I was running down through Stranglethorn Vale on my 20 Warlock, so I could get to
About a quarter of the way down I was attacked by a tiger and was reduced to about 5% health when a Troll Shaman called Ayisah shocked the tiger and saved me! I was grateful, of course, and expressed my gratitude in the form of emotes - but in addition to that she helped me travel down the rest of the zone by following close behind me on my way to Booty Bay.
Though he doesn't specifically state that he was on an alliance character, there would be no reason for a 20 Horde Warlock to travel through STV to get to the Barrens. He was very grateful to be saved, even by a sworn enemy. Many of the responders have had similar experiences. Sadly, the thread then devolved into Barrens Chat.
I had a similar experience way back on my first character. I was fighting Lake Creepers in
I get by with a little help from my friends, and sometimes my enemies. Have you had any spirit-lifting moments of cross-faction cooperation?

OMG I love that movie.
But on topic, yeah, I try to be as helpful as possible, Horde or Alliance. But that has less to do with RP or factions, and more for me trying to be a good person. ^^

I raced a Blood Elf to a Mithril Ore node in the Hinterlands today. We took turns whackin' at it.
There I said it. I must metion it was a female blood elf.
I won the race, though.

I play on Firetree, a PvP server, and 40% of the time you'll see horde (or alliance) and leave them alone, 30% of the time you help them (or get helped) out, and 30% of the time it's a bitter rivalry that can only end with one thing.... bloodshed.

Actually, just the reverse today. I was doing my whirlwind weapon quest on my freshly 30 forsaken warrior today, and when I completed it, a human warrior ran up and started it, alone. I convinced my level 63 paladin partner to give him a hand to. We engaged in a little emote RP, which was nice, and her seemed quite thankful.

Was doing the ape quest in Ungoro once, when this shammy comes along, Trying to tell me thru' emotes that he needed a little help, and i answered him back with a /agree, and we did the quest "together" . Was pretty fun, even tho' he was 3 lvl's under me, i could easily have killed him, but didnt :> Oh well, Sometimes it's good to leave the hate ;)

During the summer festival I had a run in with a Horde mage while I was on my resto shammy on Spirit Rise in TB, after killing him and a couple of guards a lock flags (I'm on a PvE server)...
Thinking this was the end I rushed him and started plucking away at him with my mace and he just emoted sorry and clapped at me...he let me get the bonfire and be on my way.
It was nice to see someone appreciate a good fight, and let me get that bonfire...yay summer crown

I was doing The crown of will and was working on the last ogre when I realised too late that he was too strong for me. My pet died and I ran for it when I saw that he had stopped following me. A ne druid had rooted him to the spot. I finished my quest and as a orc hunter I could only emote my thanks while she rode away.

I play on a PvE server and I had just finished the Hellfire Fortifications and disabled the PvP flag and proceeded to Pools of Agonnar to await some guildies so we could at long last finish Cruel's Intentions. I noticed a 64 Dranei pally having trouble with a group of slimes, I watched his health and the slimes and he wasn't winning. So I landed and finished off the slimes.
Before going to his aid I didn't notice that I hadn't finished unflagging and he immediately attacked me while still at half health. 'Course a Stormstrike and Earth Shock easily removed even that little bit.
But, sometimes our best intentions are ... misinterpreted.

Had that happen to me.
I was helping a spacegoat shaman and tanking for him on my paladin. He'd tag the nasty elite, I'd immediately grab it and laugh while he killed it. I was feeling friendly.
Along comes a rogue from his guild, flags, and my consecrate flags me. He then proceeds to try and kill me. MEanwhile I am reading gibberish in red from the shaman yelling at the guy. Eventually the rogue figures out he's killing himself a lot more than me and tries to run. Hammer and gone.
The shaman went ghost wolf and teabagged him.
I later got a tell from a level 1 thanking me for the help and telling me the rogue had been called several choice words in his guild for being such a jerk. The shaman had told them about me helping and the rogue decided to come buy just to grief me.
I thanked him for teabagging the jerk. =)

I'm generally nice, unless they're being dicks. If I'm running around, and I see some Hordie attacking something, I'll sink an arrow or two into it. Usually gets me a wave or so in return.
One time I was doing a quest in Stranglethorn where you have to kill some named NPC. I came into the place as a Forsaken Warrior was doing the quest. I helped him take out the NPC, and then he waited around for him to respawn, let me tag him, and then helped me take him down in return.
I've noticed that on my server, the Forsaken are usually the friendliest out of everyone. When running around in a feline form on my Druid, I'll get /pat-ted, or /hug-ged. What's really amusing is that NEVER happens with Orcs or Blood Elves. Whenever I run across an Orc of about equal level, it usually starts off a long chain of /spit-s and usually ends in PvP. One time I had a Blood Elf Pally of about equal level try to taunt me into PvP...which I flagged for. He wasn't aware of a level 70 Shadow Priest friend who was in the zone as well. :3
Maybe it's RP-enabled racism? :P

Yup, i remember a horde warrior was passing by when i was in alterac mountains on my way to do my whirlwind weapon quest, i flagged him down and eventually got him to follow me to do it (this was back when 60's were endgame).
Ive never forgotten this hordies act, so whenever im out doing a spot of farming nearby, i always pass by chillwind point just in case there is a warrior there needing help

In general, I just try to stay out of other people's way, but if I notice someone ACCIDENTALLY getting in over their heads, I'll often help, regardless of faction. Of course, when people pull everything in an area on themselves intentionally, I'll watch as they die. ...people on my server tend to be a bit overprotective of their quest mobs.

I play in a PvP server, and ive been ganked so many times that now i gank whenever i see a lowbie ally.

You don't play on Frostmourne by any chance?
An undead priest some time ago MC'd me and gave me fort as I was about to enter DM for my quel'serrar. I didn't have the key at the time and managed to convey to him I wanted to die.
He killed me, I ressed behind the door and opened it for him and he Mind Controlled me and buffed me up.
Many thanks when horde aren't retards.

During the Midsummer Fire Festival I took my level 70 Shadow Priest into Orgrimmar to steal the flame.
There were about 5 horde around the flame, and I was sure I was going to be attacked. I had enough time to take the flame quest, but as I was extinguishing it, a Blood Elf Mage comes up and sheeps me. I ran a little bit down the road to get away from the Horde crowd, but the mage followed me. Sheep ran out, and I shielded up and was hearthing. The mage just waved, winked, and ran back down the road. It was funny.
I also managed to get all four Horde city flames on my Shadow Priest without dying once. The Horde can be nice sometimes. :)
