Death Knight Gameplay Movies: Frost and more Blood leveling
We bought you Jadefury's Unholy and Blood Death Knight game play videos yesterday, and now he's released another batch. This time, his Death Knight is a bit higher level, and he puts two new talent builds through their paces.
In the video above, he focuses on the Frost tree. You can see the control that Frost provides specifically - the freezing effects actually seem to last a remarkably long time, certainly long enough to set up a nice chain of abilities and spells for maximum damage. A Hungering Cold followed by a Deathchill and finished up with a Howling Blast can be particularly devastating. Jadefury also points out that if you have any lingering diseases on any of your targets, you can use Blood Boil to quickly wipe them out, doing extra damage and making them susceptible to being frozen again.
Frost, reports Jadefury, is probably the least solo-friendly build. Because you need to go very deep into the frost tree to get all the abilities you need for maximum control and damage, You can't get the self-sustainability talents in the Blood tree such as Vendetta. That said, Frost should still be amazing for groups, since you'll be able to provide some very passable crowd control and damage, and I myself am still looking forward to seeing what a good Frost Mage/Death Knight team can do in PvP.
Now that his Death Knight is a bit higher level, Jadefury also released a second Blood tree video that showcases a higher level build.
Just as in Andorhal, Jayde absolute tears things up in Terrokar Forest's Bone Wastes in this video. This video showcases a Blood tree build's use of talents such as Infested Corpse, Vendetta, Mark of Blood, Scent of Blood, and Butchery for incredible longevity. In this video, Jadefury also makes use of Death and Decay and Ghouls to help his rampage along. Watching him absolutely tear up the place and never have to slow down is incredibly awe inspiring, and makes me incredibly anxious to finally be playing my new Death Knight.
Between Blood, Frost, and Unholy as they now stand, there doesn't seem to a "bad" DPS tree for Death Knights. There's been a lot of doomsaying about them being the only available DPS in Wrath, but I have to say, I could deal with a few all 3-DK DPS groups if they can all perform like Jadefury does in thes videos. Rock on, Jadefury. Rock on.

Death Knights = hax. Seriously. I'm still digging on the enhancements to the Ret paladin, so I might keep levelling my Belf retadin. However, between the awesome power and the cool animations I'll have trouble prying myself away from a Death Knight.

Hell yea, this looks awesome. Right now I'm thinking of going like his Unholy build in the first video yesterday. He has those important Blood talents (5% crit, Vendetta, uh, the other one, Butchery) and then dumping the rest into Unholy. It looked much more interesting, I have to admit. Plus, a 3.5 minute cooldown Raise Dead when they last like, what, a minute? that's pretty powerful. And I want a gargoyle!

wow... at the current stage of things dks are seriously op... death and decay needs a damn cool down with how much that cower thing procs and does death coil have a cooldown either?...
considering all those instant attacks and she was just letting stuff attack her while she went and aggroed more... if this is how dks end up then the hatred that was felt towards locks will be a joke compared to the hate of dks...
she was mopping the floor with those mobs and made it look like it was nothing... no freaking down time... seemingly infinite resources for the abilities... yeah dks dont need to be smacked around a bit with the nerf bat... they need to be beaten into a bloody pulp with it...

Outland will be plagued yet again with slow downs and crashes. Expect to see 4 thousand death knights the day WOTLK comes out.
Outland you are not pre paired.

That is what people said when alliance got shamans and Horde Paladins. I was 3rd leveling a shaman to 70 on my server, by the time I hit Outland, there was 7 shamans in outland and only a handful between 40-60.
You will see a crap load at the Starting area because people want to see what the area and such look like. But DKs will thin out alot by the time they hit levels 63-65. Most players will want to see the new content, etc. with WOTLK.

And i Definitely plan to be one of them. These videos make it look awesome fun to play.

Yea a lot of people will prefer a ranged character or want to start out questing in Northrend rather than retreading over Outlands for the umpteenth time. Once the fotm DK's start hitting 58 and the reality of killing hellfire orcs sets in, the amount will dwindle rather rapidly.

omg...... Does someone have a towel? I need to clean up my drool puddle...
Seriously, by seeing the videos yesterday, and now these I am beginning to think more and more of abandoning my Warrior in favor of a DK.

Outland, you are not prepared!
Good one.

Anyone else watch this video and think OP?

The question is: 6 months or launch date before the Nerf?

Outland.....All of Wow! Just think, every account with access to a pre-leveled char, just waiting for 2 shinny new professions (to 375 that is). The entire world will be trampled by people quickly leveling their DK's profs.
So sad to think all the hours spent on alts to be able to craft my own Gems/Pots etc...
Sparrhawk Jul 21st 2008 2:28PM
I cry nerf long and loud....
Naix Jul 21st 2008 3:39PM
Your crys fall on deaf ears. No way will Blizzard nerf this class for a few months. Death knights will be powerful for a few months then comes the nerf bat. Expect to see Death Knights blowing through outland content and passing you to 80.
Markymark Jul 21st 2008 11:58AM
Is it just me or is Death Knight making other classes look like child's play? Seriously cool spells, bad-ass looking gear, weapons, and a mount. All the trees look fun to use.
Vhaine Jul 21st 2008 12:01PM
Yah, so how long you think any of this will last?

That nerf bats gonna hit like a corpse explosion on a squirrel.
Daelock Jul 21st 2008 12:39PM
Make sense plz.
ophelos Jul 21st 2008 12:59PM
Daelock: alot of people well be bitching on the forums how OP DK's are compared to other classes, so they'll get nerfed by twice as much as they are now
matt Jul 21st 2008 1:54PM
If Blizzard changed things based on whining, Vanish and Blink would work by now, and hunters would be viable in arenas.
Tobias Jul 21st 2008 12:09PM
Gotta say DK looking veeeery nice, but I wouldn't get too worried about them being imba in the long run.
Sure they seem to be able to tear it up in outland, but I seem to remember Blizz saying a while ago that they wanted DKs to be able to go through outlands very fast so they could get to northend quicker and carry on the DK story.
So I wouldn't be surprised if there was some form of hidden scaling of outland mobs a DK takes on to make it easier...time will tell when DKx start to reach northend I guess.
Alternatively THIS could be what blizz meant by "Heroic" ^^
Either way...I WANT!!
