I think the problem with Ret and Karazhan is the fact that if you go into Karazhan in gear that you can actually upgrade there, you won't perform very well. Karazhan doesn't even have many upgrades for dungeon blues if you want plate, so you'd have to take the hunter mail and rogue leather. The boots off Nightbane also don't seem to exist, haven't even seen them in ~4 months of Kara farming. :S

Ret gear being as scarce as it is, Kara is mostly a badge farm to get real gear upgrades. The S4 gloves and Red Belt of Battle should be a number one priority for any Ret paladin really, they are just that good. S2 gear is actually better than most of the T4 pieces. Yes it sucks using PvP gear for PvE but it's just the way it is. Personally I'm not looking forward to it, but looks like I'll be grinding battlegrounds to replace my T4 helm with S2, not a big upgrade but still an upgrade.

I was wearing my s2 helm when we killed Kael.... and when we killed Archimonde I was wearing s3. Just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes with dps gear.
