Deleting toons to make room for Wrath

Deleting my toons wasn't as hard as I imagined it to be, the hardest part was getting rid of all the items I'd accumulated. I did this primarily as a way of cleaning house... after all, I hadn't been playing with my alts all that much and one or two were mere bank toons. I haven't deleted my Level 42 Tauren Hunter and Level 28 Blood Elf Rogue because I'm still considering leveling them (unlikely). Of course, what I'm really hoping for is for Blizzard to finally allow PvE to PvP transfers just so I can finally bring my Level 60 Hunter and Rogue over to my server. With two toons leveled to 70 on a PvP server, I think I've paid my dues. Whether or not that happens, I'll probably end up deleting those two toons anyway.
So there, I'm making space for my Death Knight. I needed more character space because I'm reserving some character names. When Wrath is finally released, there'll be a mad rush for cool Death Knight names and I don't want to be stuck with a lame one. In a way, I'm streamlining my character inventory the way Blizzard's cleaning up the game in the expansion. I guess conditioning my mind for a Death Knight has allowed me to remorselessly excise my alts. Are you doing anything drastic to prepare for Wrath?

its no big deal like you said. i have done it plenty. blizz even restored my hunter over a year after i deleted her so it is reversible 1 or two times but then they cut you off.
im rolling my dk in the opposite faction on my old server so i dont need to delete anything.

I hope to god PVE to PVP transfers never open. It's much too easy to level on PVE. Not that it's hard on a PVP realm, but you understand what I mean. You shouldn't be allowed to level on a PVE realm and then move it to a PVP realm.
HWL Jul 23rd 2008 10:29PM
Not really, thats just most people not being smart enough or being sellfish.
You can just level a toon on a low pop PVP server and transfer it to a PVP server,if easy leveling is the problem.
I feel bad for those that leveled on a PVE server before transfers were in the table.

LOL the only difference between PvE and PvP realms in terms of leveling is you gotta have patience for PvP realms. That's IT.
I dragged my friend to level on Cho'gall with me and he got to level 65 and he SUCKS at PvP. He never won any duel, he hates BGs, he gets ganked a lot and he doesn't do Arenas. And he's a Warlock (yes a Warlock that sucks at PvP! Didn't think it was possible either!)!
Whenever he gets killed, he'll just wait until the gankers go away no matter how long it takes for them to leave and he'll just use a soul stone to self-rez himself.
All you need is patience on PvP realms to level. Not any special skill. So stop acting like you're realm is elite because it's labeled PvP.

Seriously why does that make a PvP realm any better than a PvE. It just means you can get ganked and ultimatly griefed for the sake of it.

I sort of agree. I definitely think you shouldn't be able to transfer from a PvE to a PvP server...unless you've already levelled a character to 60 or 70 on that particular PvP server.

I've had my Deathknights name reserved for 2 years.. Of course, when i made the alt, i had no idea i'd end up using the name for my future DeathKnight. It was just an alt i never got round to leveling but the name was very important to me.... Even though i knew someone on the server that was called something similar.
To be honest. The 9 slot limit for characters is awful (not to mention an odd number). There are going to be 10 classes when Wotlk is released and its not to much to ask for another slot added when the deathknight comes so you can have at least 1 of every class on your favourite server.
Balius Jul 24th 2008 3:56AM
Ummm...You can have 10 characters per server. I currently have 9 active characters (one of each class) and a nameholder on Terokkar.

No, that's just retarded. I've leveled on PvE and PvP and there's barely any difference. I barely ever get ganked leveling on the PvP realm, the only difference is that PvE realms are boring as f*ck. I wish I hadn't leveled a shaman to 60 pre-tbc to find that out.

it would appear that someone completely missed the point of PvP realms. Its not to label it as elite, i personally just find them alot more fun due to the auto PvP tagging in zones. I played Argent Dawn for over a year due to my friend starting there and me been a noob to the game (it had only just been released afterall) MAJOR YAWN springs to mind running around that realm, absolutely no PvP excitement as everyone runs around with PvP disabled.
After moving to a PvP server and lvlin i love it! wild horses couldn't drag me back to a PvE based realm! But thats my fancy, its not everyones cup of tea i just happen to enjoy the choice to fight whoever i want whenever i want and the need to keep an eye over your shoulder whenever ya out and about.. as you never know who's watchin you! awesome ;)

If you can't move from PvE to PvP, then you shouldn't be able to do the converse.
ILikePvPbuthatePvPers Jul 24th 2008 8:55AM
@Wolfy
It seems YOU missed the point of my post. I didn't call him elitist because he's on a PvP realm (because that would make me one too since I have a BE Paladin on Cho'gall). I called him an elitist because he thinks it's something special to be on a PvP server that takes a special amount of skill when all it really requires is patience if you're being ganked by people 20+ level higher than you.
So I suggest you learn reading comprehension.

I may be reading ILikePvPbuthatePvPers' comments differently, but it sounds like he isn't saying a PvP server makes you better. It just makes you patient and thicker skinned.
I leveled Alliance on a PvP server once up to 49. I stopped because there was nothing for me at end game to look forward to and I don't enjoy leveling Alliance.
It really isn't that different on a PvP server, just a little bit harder with all the ganking. I can see not transferring a cross faction toon to a PvP server, but don't really see that big a reason for stopping PvE>PvE
Eternauta Jul 24th 2008 9:33AM
Tell me... why you shouldn't be allowed to transfer from PvE realms to PvP realms?
What if I want to level up without being ganked, and then start pvping once I hit level cap?
I hate those jerks who think they're better players just because they play on PvP realms, and treat those in PvE realms as noobs.
I'm leveling a BE pally on Burning Blade (pvp) and most of the time I pass by alliance chars 1 or 2 levels higher than me, and we rarely stop to fight, 'cause I think neither of us wants to end dead in the graveyard and be corpse-camped.

I don't have a name for my DK yet :S
Maverick0420 Jul 23rd 2008 10:14PM
I deleted toons to make new toons to reserve names for my DK
Kaous Jul 23rd 2008 10:18PM
Lucky for me they got 10 slots because I got 9 70s
Super Guest Man 9000 Jul 23rd 2008 10:25PM
Bit behind you on that, 6 70's and 3 mid 60's. But i had a twink I disposed of to save a name for my DK. Gonna name her "Missgloomy" rather cute imo. I wonder how long my buddys DK named "Spookytits" will last.
Schadow Jul 23rd 2008 11:17PM
I reserved "Runeblade" for the name of my DK. We'll see if it's allowed once the xpac is in.
Nick S Jul 24th 2008 7:36AM
I have Ebolasudan, Ebolazaire, and Lichlover on reserve. Haven't decided which I like best just yet. If my best friend wants to play again when Wrath comes out, it's the Ebola twins all the way. :-D
Ikarus Jul 24th 2008 3:38PM
Ive got Anomander saved for my DK. Wouldn't mean anything if you haven't read any steven erikson
