A lot of readers tipped this in while looking through Wowhead's comprehensive Achievements database. While we've actually heard of rumors of the Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition, with pictures of the box supposedly making their way out of the printers, this Achievement more or less confirms that there will be a Collector's Edition and that the Frost Wyrm whelp model leaked in Alpha is actually the Collector's Edition pet.The Achievement falls under Feats of Strength, along with the other Collector's Edition Achievements The requirement is possession of Frosty's Collar, an item not yet implemented in Beta. The Achievements page defines the Feats of Strength as "an accomplishment that players will find either very difficult if not impossible to earn. Feats of Strength are a collection of past glories on Azeroth."

Hmm I don't know now. I bought the BC collectors edition and got the netherwhelp... but this is a bit too similar to the netherwhelp for me. I was hoping for something that was more than a reskin of my current pet. Penguin would have been nice, or a baby murloc. Man I wish I could get that baby murloc.

I so want a baby murloc too :( They are sooo damn cute! How come the europeans (and BlizzCon '05ers) get all the cute murloc pets :(

Horray for undead dragon babies! Meh all the expansion pets have been pretty meh so far. Reskins of old pets. I still prefer panda or diablo. :)

I really love the look of the whelp and i'll be picking up the collectors edition for sure. Still it seems fairly unfair that they'd create "impossible" achievements just because you didn't spend more money on your copy of WoW than someone else.
Its a good thing i had already decided to buy collectors edition because i don't like the idea of having to pay extra to unlock something..(in this case, get the achievement).

I hope Blizzard sees fit to grace my area with enough Collector's Editions for me to pre-order one this time. I missed a Netherwhelp because the CEs in my area were preordered out. It was really irritating seeing them sitting on shelves in California a month after release.

I can feel a bunch of OCD kicking in. People who must have this pet to complete their almost impossible achievement.
Imagine being one away from completing Feats of Strength, with this being the last thing to get in order to get the achievement!

Blizz should give a choice between the penguin and frost whelp... it doesn't seem unreasonable to me to have a choice of two ornamental pets for each expansion when there was a choice of three for each toon for the original collectors' edition. I was quite disappointed with the netherwhelp... the modelling is quite chunky, and not nearly as impressive as any of the mini-Diablo, zergling, and the whizziest fizz of them all, the adorable panda, and it would be more of a charge to get it from the npc as a choice than to just get it in the mail as well.

I'm in the beta, and everyone seems to get a penguin for 'using a Blizzard account', which is the new system that will be in place after Wrath (instead of a 'wow account'.) This would imply that *everyone* gets a penguin pet, but of course that could change before release.

Note that the penguin is a reward for making a BLIZZARD account, which is different from your WoW account. The Blizzard account lets you shop in the Blizz store, among other things.

I started playing WoW after BC came out so I never had the luxury of any CE's. So I will definately be picking up this one as the little whelping is quite cute. I do hope he makes noises though. The panda is for sure adorable with his little grunts he makes when you poke him while he's sleeping :)
