Our good friends at WoW Radio have somehow boonswaggled their way into the beta, and they're letting you all reap the rewards: Totalbiscuit and his buddies all ran Utgarde Keep, the first instance of Northrend, and you can see the results above. This is the same instance we played way back at BlizzCon of last year, and it looks about the same -- you can see the hulking Vrykul, the big flame forge with its walls that come down when you pull mobs, and later on you can check out the other boss battles, including a dual boss battle (two bosses, and both have to die, or else the one that dies first spawns a shade of himself), and Ingvar the Plunderer, who has a pretty mean AoE and some cheating help. There's also a few glimpses of other beta features, including Illidan form way at the end.
Unfortunately, they don't run the next instance, Sar Chasm, which features a boss who says things to you he doesn't actually mean (spoiler: that's a joke, watch the video). But it's awesome to get a first look at Utgarde, bugs and all (the dragons who walk through the air are pretty fun), and the WoW Radio guys are pretty entertaining the whole time.
Oh man, this is going to be an interesting video. Too bad you didn't get to bring along Turpster even though I'm sure that would have been a bit crazy. -.-
Also I noticed that you're running without a threat meter. I understand that with Beta there's been changes to functions and command lines but I'm surprised there isn't a beta threat meter made yet. Oh well, you've got a pro team so I'm sure you don't need 'em. Have fun Totalbiscuit!
Hahaha, indeed. Thats what you get when you have Totalbiscuit. Hope he stars another radio show soon, I heard he's might do a Blueplz show again if Wrath proves worthy. I'm hoping he atleast does a few more vids with Duncor.
It was about an hour. It may have taken a bit longer because they were doing it for the first time, but I don't think that was more than an hour and a half.
Spirit is going to be important to arcane mages, the reason being you get a talent that turns 15% of your spirit into spell-crit rating, and another talent that gives you an extra 12% spirit. That synergizes very well with the arcane mage's increased regen abilities and heavy mana-cost associated with the spells we use.
Gotcha, thx Justin. I'm trying not to look at the details this far out, but wanted to make sure I didn't need to gather a backup set of gear for leveling :)

What's this? An instance run video that's informative and entertaining with commentary and in-game sound?
Where's the annoyingly loud death-metal or techno overlay? I actually have an idea of what's going on?
Unbelieveable. Nice job guys.

For the record:
@TB: PLEASE do another Blueplz! :)
Maxdarkfire Jul 25th 2008 2:42PM
was this done on heroic? if you peak at the instance portal on the second pull it looks like there is the skull for heroic going.
TotalBiscuit Jul 27th 2008 11:10AM
That's actually a bug with the beta. Needless to say that's not the heroic version.
Everett Wang Jul 25th 2008 2:45PM
Man, that seems pretty hard. Even though instances are supposed to be shorter they seem to have more involved boss fights.
Zakk Jul 25th 2008 2:50PM
Whah! Whah! Whah Whah! Whah! Wh-Whah!
Lol, I wonder if they'll expand the mobs' vocabulary at all xD
Corrine Jul 25th 2008 2:54PM
Was he... sinister striking?
Pudie Jul 25th 2008 3:25PM
I believe he mentioned sinister strike refreshing slice n dice.
Corrine Jul 25th 2008 3:54PM
That's eviscerate/envenom.

How long is this video? I thought 5-mans were supposed to be done in under an hour, and this seemed longer than that. Could be my imagination...
makishima Jul 25th 2008 5:26PM
well they did wipe on the last boss twice

Compared to Shadow Lab.... *shudder*

Gah, would you mind turning down your combat sounds before recording something like this.
Smurk Jul 25th 2008 6:50PM
NOT ENOUGH ENERGY

Nice run through. I'm curious how/why +spirit is going to be important for mages in WotLK (I think TB mentioned it during the run).
TotalBiscuit Jul 25th 2008 3:52PM

@Broadcloak and TotalBiscuit: I don't think SPI is that important anymore. Those Spirit-based Talents have been removed from the official Talent Calculators. WI even reported about it already: http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/07/24/blizzards-wrath-talents-updated/.
