[UPDATED!] A look at Wrath of the Lich King's Green quest rewards

I haven't checked out all of the armor pieces, but a quick perusal of the weapons shows that Northrend won't be a total circus when we finally get there. I mean, just look at the gun above. That looks really badass, specially with the skull and weathered metal. Check out pics of uncommon, or 'green', weapons found all over Northrend in the gallery below. [UPDATE!] By popular demand, I included a couple of green staves and as a bonus, took a sneak peek at the two blue quest reward items for Death Knights. I know they're not green, but they're pretty cool, nonetheless.

Its great to see that the theme for the items have changed from the High Fantasy look of Outlands, to a more Gothic Warcraft look!
Well done.

Indeed. The designers have really outdone themselves. They set out to give the Warcraft setting a darker, edgier look and feel, and succeeded admirably.
Ironically, though, when you think about it: Is it really a "new" look and feel? Or are they just returning to the dried blood, leather-bound tomes, and spiky bits of good ol' "Warcraft 2" and other earlier, darker titles?

Yeh I definitely prefer the new look to the previous ones. I also liked the Zul Amani items. Those weapons and armors with an Inca/ Voodooist theme to it were kick ass. :)

I'd love to see the staves from Northrend though. Me being a druid I use staves! Do the feral ones look different from caster ones? Like in TBC? :)

Very Nordic looking. Love it! We're all gonna be running around Northrend looking like pillaging vikings. Pillaging is good. Dressing for the occasion even better.

Don't rejoice just yet- remember it was mostly the armor from early outland that looked hideous. These weapons look very cool but the outland weapons weren't so bad either.

Damn those are nice!
Too bad there's no preview of stats though :(

That's one ugly rifle. Blizzard's obsession with skulls and spikes never ceases to amaze me :/

there you go...

Very nice. I might have to upgrade my graphics card.
But... these all look look really nice Horde weapons. Alliance green quest rewards should be shiny, metallic and should have little kittens or butterflies on 'em instead of glowing eyes and evil teeth. I'm kinda tired of being Horde... fighting an Alliance... who is wearing the exact same gear model as I am.

Stats?
dpoyesac Jul 27th 2008 3:15PM
Stats for lots of items have been available on Wowhead for a while now, for those who cared to look. This is just an announcement that we can see what these things look like now.
Here's a few quest rewards from the Howling Fjord as a taste of the cool stuff that awaits:

The guns look decent, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether male draenei using these guns will do the flip thing when they reload, and if so, is the gun large enough to completely sever the arm while doing so?

*coos* Any plan I had to level a Death Knight just got put on the backburner. My paladin wants those maces and my hunter wants that high-strung bow.
I'm so tired of looking like a shiny, sparkly, pastel magical girl. I'm so glad to have weapons that look like they'd kill you just by tripping over them. The more spikes, wood, and rusted metal, the better.

I'm 100% sure that many wotlk epic Items will be very ugly compared to these green ones. I prefer it when Epics are a visual upgrade, too.
Khass Jul 27th 2008 5:12PM
'Cause that's the logical step, right?
This is just some basic, look-awesome loot. But just wait 'till you see the shoulders. Ho boy...

Developers can't do a decent job on the game we paid for because they're too busy on the game they want to sell us. Ugly armor is the least of the problems with that approach. We're stuck with a broken product that they won't fix because they want to sell us another one.

Don't get so excited over these models. It's a very good possibility that the models used for these green items are just temporary, and the actual models will be used for raid drops/arena items. They'll probably be changed to utter crap later.
I just remember how blew away I was when I ran Blood Furnace for the first time during TBC beta, and the gun that dropped from the second boss there was at the time the same model that is currently used for the Season 3 Arena Rifle. I was so disappointed when it was changed. Let's hope I'm wrong and they actually are putting work into quest reward graphics.
