WoW Radio runs The Nexus
But the instance does look terrific -- there are some new looks at Blizzard's updated cavern shader system we heard about a long time ago, and considering that The Nexus is, well, a Nexus of magical energy, it provides for some fascinating vistas and magical effects, even on Totalbiscuit's older machine. And the fact that all that magic is floating around seems like it provides for some fun mana mechanics for casters. These instances are shaping up, even in this early Wrath of the Lich King beta, to look like the best Blizzard has ever created.

Rwings Jul 27th 2008 4:43PM
1st time posting yay me =P
First video was very well done looking forward to watching this one as well, best part of last video was each encounter was new to them so you can see the trial and error hopefully this one is the same as well.

PLEASE make a bittorent of the file. FileFrost streaming is somehow broken with Firefox+NoScript and their downloading is painfully slow and unstable. It is even impossible to resume the 2 hour 100 Kb/s download if somehow it got interrupted. That is sooo 1980s.
Aigarius Jul 27th 2008 6:26PM
Also, is that just me or is the video extremely fuzzy? Text is unreadable and everything else is very, very fuzzy despite the ok rezolution of the video. Overcompressed? Bad filters?
Eiel Jul 27th 2008 6:43PM
I got it down in less than 30minutes, so it's not FFs fault. Quality on the other hand isnt best, but still good enough to be able to see what is going on with np.
Good stuff guys, keep them comming :P

http://www.mininova.org/tor/1639424 - there, it is done for you.
TotalBiscuit Jul 27th 2008 8:45PM
Yeah sorry about that, unfortunately since it's almost 2 hours long, we couldn't really provide it in glorious HD as we'd prefer to. With a video of that length, there comes a point where you have to sacrifice quality for size, particularly as there aren't that many people who will willingly download a 4gb video, and no-where that will stream it.
We're still trying to strike the balance, there aren't all that many WoW videos of this length around, and with the downfall of Stage6 it's becoming more difficult to host them. We're already pushing 40TB a month, so we can't really strain our servers anymore than they are :)

Pretty nice tour, can't wait for the lich king, beautiful looking dungeon, and interesting bosses (well, only one :P) Can't wait for the next preview =].

Very well done gents.

What spec was TB? He was using Arcane missiles and Barrage but appeared to have Ice Barrier as well.
TotalBiscuit Jul 28th 2008 9:49AM
That was not icebarrier, that was a stolen buff from the elementals.
Dightkuz Jul 27th 2008 7:31PM
Only me who think that the boss fights seems to be quite easy? I mean, the 2 first fights in this instance and also in Utgarde Keep seemed to be pretty much just tank&spank.
Aigarius Jul 27th 2008 7:35PM
Rather consistent difficulty level with HF Ramps and HF BF. Should get harder later on.
Aigarius Jul 27th 2008 7:45PM
Scratch that. The third boss they do is very sweet!
Gnomewise Jul 27th 2008 8:53PM
Gnomewise here, that was me tanking in there. Yes, the fights were generally very straightforward, but remember that this is early beta, with a lot of tuning still remaining. These fights will likely change before launch.
Zark Jul 27th 2008 9:06PM
Absolutely cool. Nexus is beautiful and I quite enjoy watching some new instance action with TB's ranting and comments from the other participants, especially how it's clearer thanks to the lowered game sound now.
Would it be possible to perhaps vary the PoVs a little, or is only Duncor capable of capturing the video?
TotalBiscuit Jul 27th 2008 10:53PM
The only problem with having a second PoV, is that the last video consisted of 70 gigs of raw footage, and that was at only half resolution. I don't exactly know of a way to properly transfer that much footage.
Draenors Jul 27th 2008 10:28PM
When you say that the instances seem very easy you must remember that different kinds of players are going to run them.
Some guilds in full Tier 6 will do these dungeons and likely be able to rush through them without too many problems, both because they should have great gear, good organization in guild runs and good skills in general. However, there will also be players who just got to level 68+ and who still wearing blues or greens from Outland. Those people should also have a chance of doing these low-level instances.

Hi hi! :)
Could someone explain what was said about the healing? Why did it drop from 2000 to 900? How is that any better?
Aigarius Jul 28th 2008 10:06AM
2000 +healing turns into 900 +spellpower, but at the same time spellpower gives more than double benefit to healing spells, so that in the end top rank healing spells heal for the same amount after the conversion as before. Lower rank heals will heal for slightly less however.
