So you haven't found your way into the
Wrath of the Lich King beta. We're sorry for you -- no, really, we cried all through the beta login screen, after which point we were immediately distracted by, well, we'd tell you, but it would be a huge spoiler. However, we're here to ease the pain. Though we don't have the persuasive powers required to convince Blizzard to give you all beta keys of your very own, we can answer your beta-related questions. Do you have a burning
Wrath question that you just have to have answered? Leave it in the comments below and tomorrow we'll be back here, same time, same place, to answer some of your questions. We'll keep this up until
Wrath of the Lich King launches or until you run out of questions -- but I think we all know which of those is going to come first.
So lets get this party started -- ask us your beta questions!
Update: Thanks so much for all of your questions, folks! However, at this point I've picked questions and answers for Tuesday's edition of
Ask a Beta Tester, so hold on to your questions until the next column is upon us!

Any news on new Engineering?
Dusseldorf Jul 28th 2008 11:09AM
Yeah, I was wondering this, too. The motorcycles are cool, but I'd like a little bit more of a reason not to replace it with inscription.
Salty Jul 28th 2008 12:55PM
Bump...
PimpyMicPimp Jul 28th 2008 5:19PM
This.
The motorcycle has enough potential to get me to keep it no matter what, but I'd like to hear more. Engineering has been a huge headache this entire expansion, I hope things are looking up in Wrath.

Are Blizzard going to go back to giving us reasons to kill each other, as if we were actually at war? Or are the Alliance and Horde staying what seems to be best of buddies in order to kill the Lich King? (I realise that's a bit of an overstatement, but shh...)
I shouldn't have to feel remorse over killing a gnome!
webrunner Jul 28th 2008 11:50AM
The Horde and Alliance aren't at war. The last war between the Horde and Alliance was Warcraft 2, everything else has been minor skirmishes over specific areas or for specific reasons (warsong gulch, for instance, is over logging)
They aren't at PEACE but it's more like countries at each other's borders. There's often shots fired both ways but they aren't specifically marching on each other's territories- just contested areas.
Oneiroi Jul 28th 2008 12:26PM
I feel like they've been working towards the idea that now the Alliance and Horde are fighting other forces more dangerous than themselves.
They just still don't like each other while doing it.
rogue Jul 28th 2008 12:53PM
I can only speak for Horde, but (at least in Borean Tundra), you're fighting Alliance right out of the gate essentially. I assume the Alliance are fighting Horde in their initial quests as well.
Sure this is just NPCs, but the conflict is still there and very obvious. There's much more of a feel of being a soldier in a war in the initial quests, at least to me.

Elizabeth,
I mean no offense, but ... Isn't this almost the exact same topic that was discussed in 'Breakfast Topic: Burning Questions' this morning?
http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/07/28/breakfast-topic-burning-questions/
jtrain Jul 28th 2008 11:08AM
No, this morning was 3 questions you'd ask the Blizzard staff. This topic deals with asking questions of people who are actually in the beta now.
Badger Jul 28th 2008 11:18AM
True enough, I suppose.
I voted my own Comment downward to emphasize the redundancy of my question. :P

Welcome to the team Badger. We've been voting your comments down for some time now. Nice to see you've embraced our lifestyle. haha

Do I get a t-shirt?
And also: Who are you?

Wrath is using a 2-zone approach to deal with early levels to avoid the lag-fest that Hellfire was for TBC. Can you describe how this is working out in the beta, and which zone is "better"? Do you find yourself bouncing back and forth or do you stay in one or the other? Is one zone more Alliance friendly while the other is Horde friendly, or are they about equal? Thanks!
Naix Jul 28th 2008 11:52AM
With everyone rolling a death knight expect slow downs in BC starting area, again. I will be using my epic geared warlock to kill every death knight I see on opening day.
Alliance gnome death knight blood will fill the BC valleys!
Kyane Jul 28th 2008 12:13PM
Right now Northrend is pretty laggy. Getting quests done with the starting areas spread out isn't TOO bad though, but the lag is pretty crazy sometimes, watching an instant cast take a good minute or two to finally cast ( sometimes longer ).
Even with as many DKs as their are, with the dynamic spawn rates in Outlands, getting quests done is a lot easier than in Azeroth.

Is there any new information at all regarding tailoring, especially new bags or crafted items?
Tenchan Jul 28th 2008 12:53PM
Now yet. Not all professions have been implemented yet. Hopefully next patch.
Braundo Jul 28th 2008 11:10AM
How's the time-between-levels as compared to TBC (as in, number of hours /played to get from 70 to 71?) Same as TBC? More? Less?
Badger Jul 28th 2008 11:17AM
Braundo,
Blizzard has implemented a change in the scale of required XP between levels from L61-L70. Basically, think of what they did back when Patch v2.3 was released - when they decreased the amount of XP required to get from L11-L60 - and you'll have a pretty good idea in your head of how the amount of grinding and questing needed has changed. ^^
