No threat for Lifebloom
Lume the Mad has done the math (very thoroughly), and he's got the answer for Druids: the end healing burst of Lifebloom doesn't cause any threat at all, either for the caster or the recipient. He first pared the entire situation of casting Lifebloom down to its basic elements -- you've got a player who body pulls a mob, and a Druid healing them. He took out all possible reactive abilities that might cause threat, and then set up a situation where the Druid obtained threat, and cast LIfebloom on another player, with an opposing faction Shaman purging the spell early (so it could jump straight to the end heal), and the mob stayed on the Druid -- the big heal didn't cause threat for the recipient at all. Finally, Lum tested if the Druid was recieving aggro, and as you can see above, neither the Druid caster or the Warlock is affected by the end heal of Lifebloom -- just one point of damage can still pull the mob around.
There's been a lot of discussion about this already -- the HoT aspect of Lifebloom still does cause threat (for the Druid), and so you combine that with the fact that lots of people were testing under "unsecure" situations, and the whole thing got very confusing. But Lum's tests seem very clear: Druids can cast away knowing that they won't pull aggro with that burst of healing at the end of the spell.
[Thanks, Matticus!]

Actually, it's "Lume" the Mad rather than "Lum." You may want to correct your post and corresponding tags.

lrn2play resto. The issue is it doesnt help the tank build threat. This article is like saying "congrats priests your POMs no longer give threat to anyone"
Zali Jul 28th 2008 2:28PM
Well gee, that might be another article. MAYBE this article is exactly what it says it is... which is that the bloom in Lifebloom causes no additional threat.

These videos don't seem to play on either WowInsider or the Source site while viewing them in Firefox, but changing to Internet Explorer solves it.

@law
What version of FF are you using? Works fine for me and I am using FF3
martinezf123 Jul 28th 2008 3:59PM
@law If your using adblock plus try disabling it and it should work.

LUME the Mad did it, not Lum the Mad (brokentoys.org). Do your part to keep handle confusion at a minimum!
pat Jul 28th 2008 2:27PM
That isn't Lum The Mad, it's LUME the Mad.
Yes, that is a retarded thing to name your blog.
Matazuma Jul 28th 2008 2:27PM
and Thats why its called OPbloom
vlad Jul 28th 2008 2:31PM
dont the patch notes from a year ago state there was no threat?
Zali Jul 28th 2008 2:29PM
And here I was thinking they nerfed it a couple patches ago.
Saelorn Jul 28th 2008 2:40PM
I don't now about anyone else, but I find this article to be fairly helpful. I definitely recall reading at some point that the final bloom of lifebloom generated threat toward the person being healed, and I have subsequently refrained from using it in threat-sensitive situations. It's nice to know that I need not go to the trouble.

I was going to say, lum The mad, the old MMO commentor from Dr Twister, works for Mythic now I had thought. Would be odd of him doing math for wow.
HerriPaul Jul 28th 2008 2:45PM
Very nice experiment. Thank you.

Lum the Mad -- one of the very first MMOG blogs (back before we had a name for such things).
LumE the Mad -- a very interesting aticle, thank you very much! You might want to use some of your creativity to think of a more original name for your blog, though.

Wow...some "high-up" at Blizzard has to play a Druid.
Can they make Resto Druids any more OP?
Naix Jul 28th 2008 4:59PM
OP? HA! Your funny. have you ever played a Druid? We are th weakest class in the game. We blow through what little mana we have in no time having to switch form 10 times to do anything. Just because you get owned by people who know how to play does not mean they should nerf what we have.
Lizardking63 Jul 29th 2008 8:53AM
Hmmm...Guess you have been living in a cave or something, because everyone who hasn't knows how OP Druids are. Just take a quick look at the forums for further evidence for people who agree. And yes, you do need to switch forms but you do so to get out of snares. I would trade some mana for that opportunity anytime. Wouldn't it be nice to switch form run away throw on a couple of HOTS and be back to full ready to heal away again. If you think you are underpowered, then maybe it is you who doesn't know how to play your class.

vid didnt display for me, i assume im missing a plug in
but hasnt it always been common knowledge that the final bloom of Lifebloom counted as the recipients healing, rather then the druids? just like ES, which inturn causes threat for the recipient?
maybe its just me, but i thought this was common knowledge
Alkahn Jul 28th 2008 3:46PM
If this is true, then the "common knowledge" is incorrect.
This is saying that the 'bloom' is threatless for the recipient, not adding to the recipient's threat.
