Death Knights have it pretty good. Old school players will remember the pain of collecting our dungeon sets, such as the
Shaman's The Elements or the
Paladin's Lightforge Armor. These weren't class-specific armor sets, but for a long time they certainly represented the best of how some classes looked. Completing these armor sets were a real pain, with key pieces dropping off the end bosses of what were then the hardest dungeons in the game. Head pieces dropped off
Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance, leg armor dropped from
Baron Rivendare in Stratholme, and the chestpiece from
General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire.
In
Wrath of the Lich King, Death Knights won't be hoping for drops from bosses. They won't need to. If Wrath breaks as planned, Death Knights will be getting upgrades in every slot before they even reach Level 60 -- through quests. This includes a full complement of absolutely badass armor that isn't really an Item Set but a visually matched assortment of blue (literally and item level-wise) gear. I think I'll dub it the Deathplate Armor. Check out the gallery for a look at all the quest swag Death Knights get through questing.

So...DKs get this through quests? Which means we will not only have a horde of DKs running around in HFP, we will also have a horde of DKs that looks exactly the same? Awesome. :P
But a gnome in that armor would look great, no doubt about it. Or a tauren.

Everyone looks the same by Zangarmarsh anyway. And everyone looks alike if you are serious into raiding or PVP.
They really need to add that one set for stats/one set for looks system that was been talked about on WoWInsider before.

I suspect it's because they want DKs to be easily recognizable from a distance in HFP/Zangar. Kinda like brand recognition.

I feel DK is the start of other epic class beginings, for those that have a 80 lvl toon they could create an epic class priest that starts of in a similar area to Ebon Blade begins at lvl 55, does a handful of quests and emerges with a great set of armour to head to lvl cap with.
No matter how fast they make leveling pre-tbc it still gets a little boring.
DK looks great, hope other classes get the same treatment one day.

The sad part of this is that once in outland and northrend they will look like every other paladin or warrior. That is until DK gets into raiding and get their class set.
I too will never sell this set. I will create a new itemrack set and call "In Town Cloths". :P

I am really not one to have a dirty mind, honestly, but, um, these screenshots were taken at a rather unfortunate angle for the way the cloak is, erm, dangling.
Views aside, the armor looks rather mechanical to me - like something a gnome might create. I think it looks so-so.

That Armor is awesome looking, I see my bank will be filled with items that I will never sell.
STereo Jul 31st 2008 12:59AM
Does no one else notice the major problem with the appearance of this armor set?
Charlie Jul 31st 2008 5:14AM
I don't know about you guys, but i will definatley keep my sword of the ebon blade or w/e or a loooong. That is what a rune sword is supposed to look like >.

Those swords look worlds better than the season 4 spatula model.

The Tauren DK model looks great. It would be fantastic to see and compare the other races wearing DK gear. Anyone know where these models can be found?
Ookami.kun Jul 31st 2008 11:43AM
I'm curious about the various race DK models too. Also, I hear that you get a quest for a 100% Epic Mount for the DK, anyone have an screen shots of what the mount looks like, I've been curious about that one as well. Thanks.

Shroud of the North Wind is possibly the coolest cloak I've seen to date. Bravo to the modelers/skinners!

I think (hope) that Blizzard will do as much as they can to keep the death knight look. I mean, look at their starting armour. Id gladly swap my 70 wars look for that one in a hartbeat.

Who ever is in charge of the image gallery setup...pay attention to what functions are being used, please.
Clicking the image does not need to be a "see next image" device when you have already given the user an arrow for that. It is redundant and in place of an option that actually makes sense.
Please just have clicking the image as an option to increase the size.
Thank god for the Firefox and the right click -> Copy Image Location.

You know, that feature is counterintuitive to me, too! But Quane, you can also use the Hi-Res button on the upper right hand corner. =) That works for me.

if you get that armor as seen on the picture above, ill keep it and hold till i hit lvl80 :D
